Ara Fell

Good game, quite short (25 hours for almost 100%) cool setting with surprisingly detailed worldbuilding (like i am those sticklers who wants to know how water even work in floating island, and they do explain how they don't run out of drinking water because rivers just fell into the edge) basic combat, but decent character progression system. Each characters have 2 class path they can take, and there are upgrade orbs scattered through the world , so exploration is pretty good and rewarding.

Same dev ara fell. Great characters and plot is a mix of political drama executed decently with the regular fantasy element. I think it's overall better game than ara fell, but it took different class choice for characters so each characters have linear progression.

The combat is more sophisticated than ara fell and mostly revolve around synergy and combination of characters. For example a character can deal high crit damage to a bleeding enemy, but they cannot bleed enemies themself, other characters have the inflict bleed skills, so both of them can create combos. There are decent chunk of combinations that i find works really well.

My criticism about this combat is the regular enemies most of the time doesn't have weaknesses or strengths against attack types, so when you got all the party members (probably about 2/3 of the game) and found your preferred party setting, you can mostly just spam them. This is offset a bit because the character you use have "stamina", each battle reduce their stamina and at a threshold they will do less damage in battle, so there arr incentives to swap them out. The problem is this is a much bigger game and power progression kinda curve at 2/3 of the game so it made the last 5 hours ish a bit tedious. Some boss battles are cool and do have gimmicks or require specific tactics, but the mobs are boring in that stage.

Great combat with variety of character and combat that also focus on characters synergy that, but the story fell off so hard. It started interesting but after few hours in they just throw every jrpg trope at you and they are presented and written really badly. I think it's worth it because the combat is fun, but the endgame suffer from HP bloat.

The one i haven't played is jack move but i do plan to play it.

I've looked a bit more into Cosmic Star Heroine and it definitely seems like it would be something I'm into.

I haven't played it but ive been wanting to since i first saw someone mention it.

I just watched a brief Youtube video about indie JRPGs. I don't really know a lot about indie games, but after playing Chained Echoes back in Dec/Jan I'm definitely interested in trying out more games.
