In Season 2, the doctors in charge of a woman coordinate with her psycho parents and some kind of social worker to legally perform a kind of surgery on her that makes her body unable to perform at peak physical strength because she was an adrenaline junkie who was constantly getting hurt. I dropped the series after that. It made me sick to my stomach and I just wasn't having it after that. That was the first time I thought to myself "Man, I gotta get out of this third-world shithole."

The show sucks, for so many reasons. But one of those certainly isn't "makes autism seem more debilitating than it is".

do all the "The Good" shows take place in the same universe?

It was good for like the first 2 seasons? Then it introduced all these stupid characters that check all the boxes for drama and shit. Then the show moved on from this autistic doctor being brilliant to the struggles of an autistic guy in a relationship.

I wanted to watch good doctor not good boyfriend.

Aside from his wife being pregnant, the show has had minimal focus on his love life for the last two or three seasons. This last season was one of the more difficult ones for him despite becoming a full surgeon, and again, the struggles weren't because of his love life. He feuded with Lim and Glassman (and Park to a lesser extent) for the majority of it.

There is only one other so far, and it hasn't started yet. There wascan episode in this season of The Good Doctor where he meets a lawyer. It was a preview for a new spinoff this fall. The Good Lawyer. Yes they live in the same universe . The new character represented him in a legal matter.

That might be all of them.

Good Wife and Good Fight are not connected to this show. It's just a coincidence they have good in their names.

Same with Place. I've never heard of The Good Cop

Hollywood is awful at portraying disorders holy shit

I remember the writer of "Fatal Attraction" doing all this research on Borderline Personality Disorder to make Glen Close's character accurate. However, the suits undercut it to make the movie more interesting. Even psychologists were saying it was a pretty good depiction of the disorder up until the last 3rd of the movie. The unfilmed original ending was more true to how a person suffering from BPD would act and that the official movie ending was really out of character.

He became a doctor because the show is about him being a doctor. If anything, that just makes him a designated hero.

If he cared so much about his patients, why would he risk his job just because of the specific role he wanted? "I don't want to move on from cases after the scans are done," implies he's being motivated by emotional satisfaction and self-gratification in this instance.

Do you have any clip to show people that paints him in a good light, instead of just telling people to watch the show?

As you can plainly see, he never told anyone to call 9/11. This is malpractice. Not to mention he took a knife from a security officer in that scene with only a paultry attempt to explain the situation, further proving Dr. Han's point that he can't perform well when given responsibility.

That's from literally the first episode, before he even starts his new job. He just got off the plane i think to arrive in the city he's been hired in. Outside the first season, I've only seen bits and pieces of the show. But I know he matures and becomes more capable, responsible and gets promoted . I think he's one of the lead doctors now in the current season. He's also married with a baby coming. The show has him go through changes. Like normal real life people. A good story doesn't just have the main character be perfect from the start

I'm curious how many of the haters, loved House. Because the same person made both shows. I could probably find clips out of context that make House look like a stupid show too

And House (as far as I know) doesn't make its main character an offensive stereotype of a marginalized group.

I think the burden of proof is on you, here, to defend his character.

And besides, even if he apologizes, its so clear he's free to just hate any group he wants without any real repurcussions. He's a very privileged character, unlike the scorned hero, Dr Han, who is hated because of his race.

That doesn't work, a doctor is supposed to point at a specific person and tell them to call 911. Otherwise, everyone else just thinks someone else is going to do it. They would've went over this in his doctor training, which he allegedly completed.

"You! Call 911!" Would be a very dramatic line, and it would actually paint Shaun in a good light. Pan the camera over to the extra he points to and show them bumblingly pull out their phone to make the main hero look better by comparison. That would be good writing.

I wouldn't watch Stephan Crowder to prove he's bigoted. I wouldn't watch Joe Rogan to prove he's bigoted. Hence, I don't need to watch the stock-standard hollywood-produced medical drama to proce that it may not have the most tolerant of views.

Either way, you may as well just be rehashing your same opinion over and over if you can't just... Actually point to the part of the show relevant to the discussion.

The optimal autism representation, if i'm to believe what people on twitter write, is Dr. House (House M.D.) and Dr. Susan Brennan (Bones).

Anything that would portray autism as anything other than a supreme gift seems to be a nogo.

It's funny how some people are so sensitive that you can't show people having any kind of negative thought or viewpoint, even when it's made abundantly clear that that character is in the wrong, and every other character responds with "Dude wtf is wrong with you?"

This is probably the work of zoomers who don't watch network TV, suddenly discovering this show exists but only looking at out of context clips and getting offended

It's not so bad, though. Not having to wage-slave for the rest of my life is pretty awesome, even if I'm pretty poor.

Well, sure but there's absolutely lots of negative views on autism too. It kinda became the new r-word. You always seem to have it out for high-functioning people because some subset on Twitter thinks it makes them superhuman. To blame them for low-functioning people not getting the help and visibility they need is fucking stupid

COVxy has defended Autism Speaks. Just so you know the kind of person you're talking to. He talks about autistic people the way homophobes talk about the "gay agenda."
