Trick question, I am dumb.
I can swing back and forth with him saying "that's it" or w/e, but if I try and speed it up even a bit, he says "the other way" I've heard you have to time it by what he says or by how he moves, but he only seems to move when I press a button. I watched somone struggle in an LP and it took them like 3 minutes. Can't tell what they were doing differently. I hate little shit like this, I'm so bad at it.

Keep swinging left and right until you get enough momentum to hit the wall. You don't have to time it based on what he says btw.

Despite all it's many many many flaws, FFIX is still my fave game of all time

Great characters
And the game has so much soul in its world

Plus for a kids game it has a death counter that rivals a Warhammer 40k story.

I'm certain there's rose tinted glasses in there since I was a kid when I first played it but I don't see anything topping it on my #1 spot

you either stop too early or too late.

If I remember correctly, it gets to where you have to press the same direction multiple times near the end. Just once and waiting isnt enough.

The Golden Rule of Video Games:

Mash harder

So press the direction youre swinging and wait for them to do their side animation and return to still and then press it again.

at first you should be only be able to press once per direction. Then eventually youll get to two swings in the same direction before switching. Then at some point youll be going off camera and you can get 3 in the same direction.

I think the main sticking point is the animation itself doesnt matter only that you press the same direction you are currently in. So towards the end you will get them facing the wrong way in the animation but gaining momentum

Its the oglop stealth part that I always struggle with.

Love the game. Its my favorite of the numbered series, but there are some portions I still downright hate.

Damn. Isnt there a boss right before? Not that hes very difficult anyway. My yearly FFIX replay is coming up soon I cant wait.

Ok, didn't get a chance to play yesterday, but that was easy once I new you had to press the button repeatedly. Thanks for the help.
