Very little happens in the first film.

Alien isnt overrated. I just saw it for the first time 2 years ago, and I thought it was great.

The first is definitely more horror and the second is horror-action so it's tough to compare. Having said that if you asked me on a random occasion which I'd rather watch it's Aliens 9/10, but sometimes you're in the mood for that slow burner.

Anyone who said the first Alien movie is overrated deserves a slap in the face. By a facehugger.

Alien and Aliens you can't really compare, they are 2 totally different genres

Alien and Aliens are equals. Both are perfect for their respective genres. Alien 3 isn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's definitely a step below the first two and isn't the movie anyone wanted, but it's still decent. The rest are just awful.

The gap between Aliens and Alien is basically infinitesimally small.

The first two were so good, but so different from each other, kind of like Terminator and T2, that they are both great.

I slightly prefer Aliens just because I am not that much of a horror fan

The first two are very different, and are both clearly excellent, but the first is my favourite.
