I know what I enjoy most about making a cheese sandwich is the part where I have to exert all my body strength to press the sandwich into the pan to get it to cook properly.

As good of a chef as he is I think this is a case where he believes he can fancy up something fundamentally... not fancy. Like he looks at a basic piece of comfort food and says "let's make this gourmet" when that misses the point entirely. The funniest part is the thickness of it is why it fails to even cook properly.

That whole thing reminded me of the hamburger in the movie "The Menu" with Ralph Fiennes.

Fiennes made a burger for Margot, explaining his technique and why it was the perfect burger. However, despite having his passion for cooking temporarily reignited, his prestige as a chef and the sacrifices he made with his social life had removed him so far from ordinary life that Margot found the burger to only be average.

Theres not many chefs that can be good at everything, so Im always skeptical when a celebrity chef claims to have a world class version of something outside their domain.

I wager my dad has probably cooked and trialed more BBQ ribs in his lifetime than Ramsay personally has for example.

If there's less cheese than other stuff it ain't grilled cheese. That goes for anything. If you advertise a turkey sandwich and there's one slice of turkey and a big aas piles of veggies on it, it's a veggie sandwich with turkey.
