it means that if you showed the game to 10 people, all 10 people would love to play that game. A game that's 5/10 would mean that if you showed that game to a group of 10 people, only 5 out of 10 people would enjoy that game.

Reviewers are not running statistical studies.

Even if they were, that's not a good setup for a study. 10 people isn't a very large sample size. And which people do you mean? Do you mean any random people on the planet? If so, I think it'd be highly unlikely that 10 randomly selected people would all be interested in playing a certain video game. Some may be people who don't like video games at all, some might not want to play it because it's not in a language they understand, etc.

1. No it doesnt. You are implying that 100% of all people play videogames or that 100% of all people who play videogames would agree on your tastes.
2. The 10/10 system is stupid and anyone who uses it really needs a dose of reality. Its a platitude used by that stupid videogame language that people use to try to say something useful when they cant accurately find the words to describe what they mean. 10/10 objectively means a perfect score, and yet the videogame yahoos constantly argue that point and come up with some bullshit about how a 10/10 game is just a game that sets the benchmark to what all games in that genre should be. Which is completely ass backwards thinking because all games establish a benchmark in some degree and basically what you are actually doing is just categorizing games into tiers.

And whats really stupid about that is the reasoning people give to justify their scores. They use bullshit language like it just doesnt feel right or its a mix of ideas that dont work or it feels rushed.

If you watch this stupid video, tell me this moron doesnt use the exact same reasoning to describe all twenty of these games. The game is not fun, a bad idea, repetitive, and whatever. Over and over again, and the guy just tries to take in such a way that he wants you to agree with him.

I would have absolutely no problem telling anyone who uses that garbage system of 10/10 that they are completely full of shit. If you are going to use tiers, just name them. Its not hard.

Example

1. Must Own - youll play it over and over
2. Must Play - you need to try it once at least
3. Dont even bother

A game receiving a 10/10 score means that 10 years after it's released the game will have such favorable staying power in the gaming zeitgeist that people will still be comparing games currently being released to it.

I had an aunt who was a nun. She taught children in catholic school.

She refused to give any student a score of 100 on any test. Why? Because only God is perfect.

Was she right to do so?

My response to her today would be: while God is perfect. Your tests are not.
