Breath of the Wild is absolutely a divisive game. A loooot of people hate it. They just tend to get shouted down.

I can't stand the thing. I know a lot of people who can't stand the thing.

But the people who like it REALLY like it.

And the same is true to an even greater extent for most Zelda games.

If BOTW is divisive then literally every game ever made is divisive.

With respect a vocal minority to that level claiming to be shouted down is absurd. Its the other way around - just look at the other thread.

Sure there are people who dont like it. But thats true of every game. Is every game divisive?

Yeah, I'm not sure where the divisiveness claim is coming from here. By every reasonable metric, the game is nearly universally praised and has had unqualified success. This feels like a situation where people are believing the echo chamber of Board 8.

It's not just B8, though. You can go on the Zelda board, reddit, twitter, etc and find a sizeable portion of people that do not enjoy the game.

When a game has a noticeable presence of people that dislike it, yes that IS divisive. And yes, Zelda games do tend to be divisive in general.

In the sense that every game is divisive. Detractors tend to be louder than fans.

Like what percentage has to like a game for it not to be considered divisive? What games would we consider not to be divisive?

Exactly. And, as the original point said, many Zelda games are more divisive than BotW.

So every game (not just Zelda) is divisive then, as you can absolutely find that in any gaming community. Relative to other games it certainly isnt divisive.

There are games that are internet divisive but mainstream undivisive like Bioshock Infinite but this isnt even that.

On-topic, I really dont think ALttP needs a remake. Links Awakening did, Oracles and the NES games do, but ALttP is readily available on Switch and holds up really well. I dont think Oracles being Capcom matters that much considering that not only does Nintendo own all that stuff, Fujibayashi who was the director of all those games at Capcom is now the number 2 guy on the franchise behind Aonuma. He directed Skyward Sword, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom and is basically Aonumas heir apparent.

I mean Link's Awakening did not need the full remake treatment either - the GBC Zeldas are nearly perfect video games and are just missing QOL adjustments like more buttons to reduce menuing. They could do the Oracles that way but it might be a weird proposition since it's two games. It would be cool to have the connectivity features made easier to deal with though, link codes were something.

Maybe hot take but LttP needs a remake because a lot of its sprites look like dogshit. Extremely rare pixel art L.

The art direction of the LA remake was dreadful though. I'd take base LTTP sprites over that any day.

It was surprising to see that there, I guess the Zelda cycle is still going strong.

But back when the game came out, you could count one 1 hand the people who admitted to but liking it. And they absolutely were shouted down. But part of the Zelda cycle is amnesia.

lol that's just a lie

I think immediately people were high on skyward sword because you just assume all Zeldas are good and it had high critical reception.

Didn't take long for it to be kind of a minority opinion though.
