I like the Mario & Luigi series because of the timed attacks and battles not dragging on for too long. Are there any other JRPG games for beginners, or people who dont like tedious grinding?

Ironically I liked Dragon Quest XI at first but the grinding got on my nerves.

Last Remnant
Shadow hearts
Legend of Dragoon
Star Ocean

Edit Oops I didnt see the whole "for beginners" thing so maybe not Last Remnant but still a great battle system

Probably the Tales of series, even though I hate it. Crisis Core, FFVII Remake, Persona 4 or 5

Kingdom Hearts 1 had a nice and simple action style to it. Got too fancy for its own good in sequels.

You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.

  • Ys 8 - I highly recommend it to anyone that expresses interest in JRPG's. Really fun game. The action battle system is easy to pick up and you can change the difficulty whenever you want. So you can really tailor the challenge to your liking.
  • Grandia 1 & 2 - Turn Based combat where your magic/skills get stronger based on how often you use them. But you don't have to grind to make it through the story. And the stories are great.
  • Trials of Mana (2020) - Probably one of the easiest RPGs I've played. Still a lot of fun though and it has good replay value, since the story changes based on which characters you play as.

Well the worst part of the The Last Remnant's difficulty was that you had to play in a very specific way to avoid the battle rank skyrocketing and making enemies too hard. And the remaster fixed that. So... Might be worth recommending lol

Is Earthbound worth it? I've only heard good things about it but don't know if I'd like the combat system.

Earthbound is a classic but it has a lot of SNES era quirks that modern games figured out better.

In essence its a turn based system. The biggest unique thing is the ticking HP part

True but even the remaster I still consider as one of the most difficult JRPGs

Mana Khemia if PS2 is an option. Loved the combat in those games, and I even really liked the characters in the first one.

Grandia 2
The whole Grandia series tbh. Including Xtreme if you don't mind that that one is basically all combat / dungeon exploring with very little story. (Not as in the story is bad; as in it barely exists.)
