I like a lot that's coming from A Journey For You Alone, but I can't help but think it's falling a little bit on the generic side. The vocals are nice and so is the instrumentation, but I wish it did just a bit more to excite me or at least enjoy the experience more.

Zero Lab is yet another good song from the "Toby Fox does Pokemon" shortlist, though with all the fun and excitement that's going on, I do wonder what it would be like if there was a clearer melody throughout the song. That would certainly make it stronger for me

Duel in the Mist succeeds in creating that "tense battle" vibe that the Japanese instruments help in delivering, but I can't really find too much about it that stands out personally to me.

God, this Ex-Zodiac song just blasts out the gate without a care in the world, sharing its synth-y goodness to all those around it. I absolutely adore the energy here, just a straight up banger.

I appreciate the soothing feel that comes from Waltz, there's some very piano and strings from this performance.

DADADADA+ is just a super fun song, I really like the vocals here and the synths are great. Really good energy, playing this in an arcade has to be a pretty fun and sweat-inducing experience.

Really strong day wtf. First match was really tough for me to vote on. At least I know at least one song i really like is moving on today! That's about where im at
Remnants of Celestial is a very good +TEK song too!!
I was expecting DADADADADA to be more like Bi, but instead it felt like an answer to the people who felt Cradle was saying "DIEDIEDIEDIE". Not quite as good as Cradle but it was cool.
Don't have a lot to say about the other two today.

MATCH 1

A Journey for You Alone is my favorite of the Utawarerumono songs in the contest and my favorite song in Bracket B! After two years of nominating this song and watching it languish at 1/1, I'm very pleased that this year, it got the support needed to make it into the bracket. I really love this song's bright and upbeat energy. I wish I could point out specific parts, but the whole thing is really great. This song just does a really great job at pairing good vocals with harmonically rich sounds to accompany them, which is very much my thing and something that often gets a lot of praise from me and sends a song like this skyrocketing to the top of my rankings.

Zero Lab also has a very cool composition with that higher-pitched synth laying on top of overlapping layers of harmonic lines at 0:24 and especially at 1:00. 1:36 and 2:11 is also really cool with that bright melody that also carries with it this tinge of "you have to save the world and only you can do it!" I will be sad if A Journey for You Alone loses, but Zero Lab is a strong song as well, so that softens the impact.

MATCH 2

Duel in the Mist is okay, but it doesn't really stand out to me in any way.

Remnants of Celestial has a really cool and funky arrangement with its energetic lead melody and rapid-fire bassline and other backing synths. Good amount of harmonic depth here too, which is always a good thing.

MATCH 3

Waltz is a nice song. I tend to enjoy soft, pretty songs like this, and that's no exception here. I guess it lacks that additional oomph of emotional impact that's typical of my favorite songs that style, but that's okay because melodically, everything sounds fine to me. Though, I guess that holds it back some when I'm comparing it to really strong songs like its opponent.

Da x10 is such a high energy song that really gets me tapping my feet and bobbing my head. Not much to say here unfortunately, it's just a big hit with me.

Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen (PS4) -6- A Journey for You Alone Re:boot The japanese like instruments in the background add a lot of fun texture and create a jubilant yet ancient mood. The vocals are a little bland for me

Pokmon Scarlet/Violet - Battle! (Zero Lab) -5.5 - I like how it starts off, reminds me of Seymours duel. I think it just keeps this INTENSE energy for too long. I would have liked to heard more pauses and slow moments throughout. The guitar is fun but some of the mixing makes it overbearing.

Genshin Impact - Duel in the Mist -8 - Woo I forgot how good genshin music can get. This sounds like a feud between two samurai lords. Dueling over who will get the last rice cake or something. The multitude of layered drums creates such a tense and entrancing rhythm.

Ex-Zodiac - Remnants of Celestial (Stage 3) -7.5- Its a good space mega man esque song, but sometimes it gets too space age for me and falls into generic territory. I like how therell be cycles of build up/tension and sweet resolution. Its so addicting

Hoa - Waltz - 8- Simple sweet songs for those days when you need a cheerful pick me up of a piano ballad. The wood winds blend very nicely as well .Im such a sucker for this stuff

REFLEC BEAT groovin'!! - DADADADADADADADADADA (Long Version) -5 - Take out the Dada and this would be much more palatable , though it would lose what makes it memorable Energetic to say the least!
