There's no reason to play the GBA version over the DS version. DS is an upgrade and adds a whole new case, a very long case at that. But if you can get the Trilogy Collection on Switch that would be better to play.

DS for sure. If memory serves, I think DS had an extra case that was probably the highlight of that game.

Ye, if the question is about which version to play definitely go for the DS version. 1-5 is the reason I still view the first game as the best, and it's exclusive to the DS version (as with all re-releases based on the DS version).

Just played the first case. I'm guessing it's meant to be a tutorial since it was short and easy. Very fun and gripping so far though. Mia is a babe. I tried giving Larry the blackout document as proof that the girl liked him but it didn't work. Was it the passport instead?

Err actually it must have been the clock. I kept getting stuck on the bit where he said she wasnt returning his calls.

Great series overall, but I kind of wish Apollo justice never happened tbh.

The sprites and backgrounds look like shit, the backgrounds are cropped from 4:3 to 16:9, and the font they use is generic bullshit. The DS version is still the best.

I wouldn't say AJ was bad; it just wasn't as good as the rest of the series.

Athena being awful has nothing to do with her being a girl or the games she's in being bad. Dual Destinies isn't that bad, but still not great.

Finished turnabout sisters. Damn, I've seen so much of Mia in the promotional stuff for the game over so many years, but she actually dies right at the very beginning? I guess she sticks around as Booba Casper but oh well.

I keep falling into the trap of trying to outsmart the game and present stuff before I've pressed on it. I'm gonna try to overthink it less going forward

Yeah, both 1-4 and 1-5 did feel like they went on a bit long, even if they were great otherwise.

Also 3-5 is the best case and you can fight me if you disagree.

Turnabout Sisters has my vote for worst case in the series because of how garbage it ends. Phoenix is a bit of a fucking dunce, but saying he had a receipt in his posession for the entire duration of the case and never once flipped it over and read the front side of it is grotesque. Not only in terms of character writing, but it's kind of unforgiveable in terms of it being an investigative game and you just didn't have the option to do the most obvious thing in the game. I know the series relies on twists and stuff, but there's a difference between introducing new evidence and new ways to look at existing evidence and just going "didn't think to look on the other side of this slip of paper, did you?"

And then all of that isn't even enough and you only win the case by having your dead boss blackmail the culprit on the stand.

There's bad cases in the series, but nothing makes me quite as mad as 1-2.

2-2 is great and different opinions are bad

2-3 is also great but I can't say this out loud for fear of sounding silly to everyone else

4-3 is bad but I honestly dont even hate it that much. 4-2 is worse. 6-4 might technically be a worse case, but it's moreso annoying as hell than it is offensive to me like 1-2.

6-5 is let down by two elements. A garbage villain and Capcom not having the balls to have Phoenix just fight Apollo in court because he's a fucking lawyer and that's what lawyers do, so they had to have Maya be kidnapped to blackmail him.

Sure, but I feel the overall package of 6-5 and how clever the biggest moments are just has so much enjoyability that it's still a top tier case. SoJ's only bad case is 6-4 and the DLC imo and those are more just boring rather than bad. 4-3 and 4-2 are actively bad and honestly even 4-1 doesn't make a lot of sense on retrospect although it was great on the first run.

6-5 is my favorite case in the series.
