match one is reasonably close, and match three is also not that far apart either. a decent day but it definitely feels like a letdown compared to the powerhouse that was yesterday's lineup.

An Azure Sword Slices Through the Twilight: Not really a fan of the intro of this one. But once it hits 0:43, it starts to pick up. Some nice chords and buildups. I do wish this used real instruments though, the fakeness of the instruments is a bit too overt. Still a good song.

Breaking Free: This is one of the TWEWY songs where the vocalist doesn't sound like a total amateur. Great vocals, and the guitars are super grungy and I love it. Love the guitar and synth solo before the final chorus as well. Big fan.

Last Engage: Not sure how to feel on this one. It's not a bad song, but nothing about it really grabbed me either. Not much else to say on it.

World Ender: Cool synths and piano. Love the synth in the second half that's hard-panned right. Cool song.

The Dreadful Fight: If the instruments in Azure sounded fake, these instruments sound way worse. The SNES version is vastly superior.

Reach for the Summit: I realize this is a multiphase song that progresses as you progress in-game, but it being such a relatively short loop that lasts essentially 11 minutes isn't great out-of-context. Celeste is probably my least favorite Lena Raine soundtrack I've heard, but it's not bad. It just lacks compositional substance that is a lot more present in other Raine works. This'll still get my vote because the synths and piano are nice, and because its competition is super weak, but yeah. (Also, why is the lick at 0:57?)

One of the weaker days of the contest to follow up the strongest day. Guess we have to balance things somehow.

MATCH 1

An Azure Sword Slices Through the Twilight is an interesting song. The chord stabs at 0:43 are a cool buildup (more so than the first buildup before that, I'd say haha) to the rest of the song. Melodically, it's not amazing, but it's solidly good. 1:18 has some interesting chords too.

Breaking Free has a cool emo rock sort of energy. I really like the first elongated note of the chorus. Sets it up quite nicely. Pretty close match, but I think I'm vibing more to Breaking Free. I'd be happy with either song advancing though.
