Best place to pass out tbh

Apparently my sub conscious is super scary and ready to fight everyone which I guess does check out.

Fml lol

sounds more like it's ready to give up on fighting everyone hehehe.

I've felt faint after getting needles/a few times. Haven't actually passed out, I think. Probably not that big a deal, hope you're okay.

I passed out one time when they were drawing blood. Woke up not even realizing it happened really but must have sweated a ton because my shirt was drenched. Only time I ever had an issue giving blood but ever since I just lie down as a precaution, apparently I fasted too well and my blood pressure dropped too quickly or something lol.

Are you okay, at least? Was it a fear thing or a blood pressure thing?

I have white coat hypertension, which means my blood pressure reads high at the doctor's office no matter what (my doctors have studied this thoroughly, including having me read levels at home, comparing my cuff to theirs at the office, etc.) so I get it, to an extent.

It just feels so weird, since it means I get nervous around doctors even without realizing it. It's especially weird since I almost became one, though maybe that even plays a part.

It's absolutely a thing! If I see a BP I don't like, I'll check it again before they leave my office. By that time, it'll usually go down. There are so many factors to consider. Anxiety about seeing a provider to begin with, overall concerns about health status, worrying about making the appointment on time, dealing with traffic, possibly making a difficult financial transaction, etc. One or all of those could be at play, most of which wouldn't occur in the comfort of your own home.

Yeah, it's usually only a problem when I switch doctors, which I've had to do recently due to new insurance. They always want to double check, themselves. Which I fully get and appreciate, it's just a bit of a hassle when I already know what the end result will be.

Can vouch this has been my experience as a patient. My BP had been high earlier this year and it's thankfully dropped, but each time it measured high we re-took it at the end and all was better. Now I'm not having that problem thankfully!

Hope you're okay, Chris! Lemme know if you need someone to talk to.

It didnt start happening until relatively recently, but I can relate.

One time the doctor was speaking to me and I felt kinda weird but not too weird, and he stopped and was like Are you ok? All the color completely drained from your face. and it was like hearing it made it real and I instantly started fadingapparently I had a panic attack! Wild stuff.

Hope youre doing ok, Chris.

The fact that he hasn't responded in here yet is a bit worrying.

Edit: Hopefully he just crashed into a blissful slumber after his terrifying ordeal with the scrubs and the endless battle with the evil health insurance demons.

Can also confirm these exist and are the bane of every health care provider's existence.

I've done that twice before, but they know full well what did it both times

First time, I was randomly getting nosebleeds a lot because I had busted a moderately sized blood vessel near the back of my nasal passages, so they had to cauterize. The person who did it either didn't use a local or didn't use a powerful enough one, and the pain from it made my BP dip to the point I blacked out for about 20 seconds, came to with the doc going "are you all right?!" and I lunged for the trashcan to dry heave. I had to call off work for an hour to make sure I didn't lose consciousness before my drive.

The second time was my own fault, and the only doctors that were involved were after the fact. I donated blood on the same day I failed to eat enough for breakfast, confusing it for other bloodwork days I've had to do a lot of the year prior. Got about 3/4s through my donation when I started feeling like something was wrong, because it was - I got drained a bit too much for how little I'd eaten that day. Dealt with a doctor after that while they monitored me over a trash bin that I was retching into again.

I donated platelets earlier this week and the person next to me had a very small breakfast and they too ended up heaving into a trash can (though in their case it was not "dry"). I didn't even know this was a thing, but new fear unlocked. Bad timing for it too, as I've been doing intermittent fasting for the last two weeks and have intentionally skipped breakfast every day since, including the day I donated platelets! For the record I felt drained afterwards, but not lightheaded, nauseous, or faint at all.

Hope it's just stress or something, similar to "white coat hypertension." It's something annoying but very manageable.

I almost passed out at the doctor's once, too. I wasn't used to having my blood drawn and hated needles, and they wanted to do a routine test, and while I didn't think getting my blood drawn bothered me so much, I almost face planted when I went to stand up.

I'm used to it now because my thyroid sucks and I get my blood drawn every six months to make sure pills are doing their job, but that day was... Something.
