She's a significant artist who knows how to make a good pop song.

alot of people thinks she writes most of her hit songs, she doesn't , like, most of them were written by max martin. I used to listen to her some, but ye, she is kinda overrated.

On what basis do you think this? She has many solo writing credits.

so what? they could put in there that there dog wrote some of the songs. How do you know it's true?

I don't know enough about her to consider her overrated. She sounds like any other pop princess, to me.

Not only "these days." Most pop (and "popular") songs have always been produced by songwriting teams since the early days.

I remember listening to an interview with Stevie Wonder criticizing modern artists because of how generic and similar the songs sound, but then praised a lot of the music of his era because writing teams would spend a ton of time just making the songs perfect. I don't necessarily disagree with him, but he also clearly pointed out how many songs of the older eras were also written by collaboration instead of just a singular solo venture.

Look on most records under the writing credits and you will usually see many names of people who aren't the musical artist whose album it is. Bands tend to have a bit more written internally, but even then, many bands have songs that had collaboration from people outside of the band to help write some songs.

I don't know. I never really cared about her older stuff and used to hate on her a lot. I grew out of that and have become more accepting of almost all music in general since then, and like some of her songs. She also seems like a genuine and decent person, who even addresses the whole "she only makes songs about ex-boyfriends" accusation and pokes fun at it from time to time. The thing that really bums me out is that she's literally 3 days older than me and she's off living her best rockstar life and I'm just...me lol. I will say that I do like her stuff a lot more than most other female pop songs, though that's less adulation and more disinterest towards the others.

On a side note, recently I had a dream where I could somehow sing well, and for whatever reason she popped in to test my chops (I guess to take me on tour?), well we started talking and after she found out I was pro-choice and an atheist she become repulsed by me and very insulting, and I just kept thinking, "why are you being like this, I thought you were the opposite of this!"

Iirc swift is also very openly pro choice, weird dream
