Normally, I would be more into a jacked-up song like gram-encounter, but it feels like it's letting out too much energy all at once, like it's tripping itself up constantly. There's too much dissonance for me to really appreciate it, which sucks since I can feel parts of the song that I want to enjoy and listen more clearly.

Astebreed is definitely leaning more into that energetic, JRPG-flavored "decisive battle" vibe, and it's working a lot more for me for this match. Good energy all around, The Void is probably my favorite of the two parts together.

Flowery Wind is one of my favorites from Kanno sure, it's an incredibly soothing piece that genuinely helps relax my brain whenever I feel too wired to think properly. The strings do the proper heavy lifting as the rest help carry that calming effect, and I'm incredibly appreciative of that.

Megaraph Fleet is very fun! Very modern Sonic-influenced, it sounds like a very hopeful way to approach a final fortress and just go into the fray with one final push. I like the vocalizing and the chanting near the end of the loop, gives it that slight edge to it that I really enjoy.

Something tells me I should be into Rampage more, but I'm just not feeling it yet it seems. I like the intensity behind it with the synths and the electric guitar, but I think it's the fact that they feel muted for the song that nothing is jumping out at me and is leaving too much of an impression on me. Sounds nice overall though, I want to feel more from this.

Punk Panic has Splatoon and Fall Guys energy wrapped into one quirky as hell song, and I'm certainly here for it.

for some reason i expected to go the other way onmatch 2 before i listened to refresh myself, and i'm not sure why? both songs are great it's just very clearly not in that direction for me

when i found out Pre Paid Pog Punk Panic existed i was so overjoyed and elated. Hercelot has been one of my favorite musicians since i was actually in middle school and i randomly found one of his albums on bandcamp. i literally have no idea how i got there. his style ranges a lot but pre paid is in a similar style to some of the stuff i liked the most on that first album i heard. i'd recommend checking it out to people who liked this track, a lot of the short samples and goofy feel carry right over.

Honestly four songs I liked quite a bit today, those being the ones in matches 2 and 3. Rampage I dug a bit more though and, well as pretty as Flowery Wind was at points it's not gonna beat that save the world energy

MATCH 1

gram-encounter is my other finalist in my favorites bracket for Bracket C! Like over-nove from, I believe, VGMC15, gram-encounter features some insanely cool guitar parts. The addition of guitar-like synths and other rich synth chords is also a very cool element of the song, that gives it a bit of an edgy, futuristic tone. From start to finish, it's one hell of a song that really gets me pumped up. I'm very happy that this made it in after falling short the previous year.

Astebreed ~ The Void is also a very cool song. With its violin and trance-like beat and synths, it feels very reminiscent of some of the Baldr songs I know (and it also looks like the game has some mecha elements to it as well based on the thumbnail). Though, the dramatic choir and orchestra in the latter half is also a very cool touch. Strong match, but this song's unfortunately no match for gram-encounter. As an aside, I can't get over how much the guy in this thumbnail reminds me of Keiichi Maebara from Higurashi.
