She had a fight with him, and then tossed lye on him and it caused horrible burns. He ended dying months later of his injuries

Megan Joyce Imirowicz allegedly tossed a mix containing lye powder and water on Konrad Imirowicz, 64, while he was napping on a couch at the familys Groveland Township home on Oct. 1, 2021. She was 18 at the time.

Konrad was hospitalized that day with chemical burns to his head, torso, and extremities. He spent months in intensive care, before being released to in-home hospice care in his final days

Jesus christ burns are horrifying. I don't know what was going on with their home life, but she was technically an adult. I can't imagine her getting away with anything less than a murder conviction.

Yes. She had just turned 18 prior to this happening

There has to be an element of premeditation there. You don't just accidentally stumble upon the idea to toss lye on someone while they're asleep.

Did she fully know what that substance was and what it was capable? Otherwise she didn't just want him dead, she wanted him to suffer.

Sounds like manslaughter.

Not sure yet. I just watched a little bit of trial coverage and that did come up. The reporters were discussing on if the defense can convince the jury that she didn't expect him to die or to be hurt so bad

I could definitely see it only being manslaughter, but nothing less than that.

Kind of like how you might consider Freezing to death to be the opposite of burning to death.

It has culinary uses in food preparation if it's too acidic to eat. The main thing is used for today is olives. If you have an olive tree in your garden, you can't eat the olives it grows unless you soak them in lye or use an alternative method.

I don't think anything. I know nothing about this case other than the snipets provided in the topic. I didn't say it's manslaughter, I said it's at least manslaughter.

for those that dont know; when you get burned the skin will heal but basically you lose all your pores and you can no longer breath/sweat out of that skin, so when you sustain burns over a large enough area you're no longer able to regulate your body heat and end up slowly boiling alive.

I know almost nothing about lye, so I was wondering if she intended to kill him, or if she was remorseful. That mugshot doesn't look like she has remorse though. >_>

Honestly, just go through her internet and phone search history. See if there was research done.

If not, then I can see how an 18-year-old would have no idea that lye might have that effect.

It's used for making homemade/artisanal soaps as well. It literally pulls the fat out of your tissues and turns it into a soap analog.

That's how it clears drains, too. It turns grease and hair into a water soluble soap type substance that breaks up instead of forming a solid clog.
