I had an old one that honestly was awful. I've got some Steam games now that are better with controllers, so what is a more decent one?

Xbox One controller. Most pc games are naturally programmed to detect Xbox controllers, and auto bind the keys. Meanwhile Playstation still has some work arounds. The worst for me was the Steam Controller. It just felt weird, especially playing Binding of Isaac which is what I bought it for. I thought it was going to be more like 2 touch pads, but Isaac registers it as 2 D-Pads.

Honestly that's good for me because I grew up on an xbox so it's natural

Xbox controller pretty good for most games. I've noticed that their analog sticks don't feel as tight or precise as ps controllers tho but I rarely play games where that matters

I know ps controllers have less latency. might have to do with that maybe.

Came in to say this. Works great for a Steam Deck controller in docked mode as well as doubling as a Switch pro controller replacement.

8bitdo ultimate, the switch version. Hall effect sticks, sturdy controller in general, back paddles, turbo, key mapping, and more. Just a great controller tbh.
