I honestly wasn't interested in seeing it but the girls wanted to go. It hit all the dad/daughter buttons.

the premise for this one just seemed extraordinarily dumb / cliche. I want to support Pixar but I just can't do it.

Yeah, the premise is just so by the books as with everything Disney and Pixar these days. They've completely lost me.

it's easy to see a movie you aren't super excited about when you are paying the monthly fee to see unlimited movies

Saw this on thursday and enjoyed it. Didn't reinvent the wheel by any means, but it was enjoyable. It was less of a Romeo and Juliet story of forbidden love and more of a story of being a second generation immigrant with all the expectations that entails . Yeah it has elements of forbidden romance, but the Fire/Water connection takes a backseat to someone dealing with figuring out how to live up to her family's expectations.

I actually didn't care for the Carl's Date short however, but that feels more like a me thing and my preferences.

I do pay that fee and I still couldn't muster up the desire to go see this. This looked like early-Dreamworks tier stuff. Not Shrek, but like Shark Tale energy...

Okay, I rolled a 14. What's that mean? Hsu

I definitely enjoyed it a good bit. Not perfect (they had an uphill battle after how unlikable water guy is in the first act) but ultimately a very fun movie

And the Carl short made me cry, obviously
