Eh, I don't like Korean food. There are a few dishes that are good, but on the whole, it's pretty nasty stuff.

Especially samgyupsal.

I know everyone that I've known whose had it, loved it. But it's just pork fat. It's not even streaked with meat, like bacon.

And chewing pure fat is an exercise in frustration, as it doesn't break down into smaller chunks. That, and it just tastes like fat, ie: it has no flavor for fat to enhance.

Blech.

People who don't like *insert entire culture's food here* tend to be picky eaters. Just a failure of parenting on the part of your parents. Its especially bad if you don't like Korean food though as they have incredibly diverse offerings that are particularly appealing to an American palette.

That EASY ad should be used in the Phillipines. I've lost count of how many FPS Pinoy folk have told me to lick their ass over a single kill because I'm American.

I spent 8 years in South Korea (Seoul and Songtan).

I've tried most everything they have, including the boshintong (dog soup) and the tokkitong (rabbit soup).

And nothing really stands out as an "OMG! WOWSERS, THIS IS SUPER AWESOME!!!"

Bulgogi? It's barbeque beef/pork/chicken. It's good, but not great.

Kalbi? It's barbeque beef/pork/chicken with bones still in it, cut sideways, so you can't easily pull the bones out. Oh BTW, you need to eat it with chopsticks and good luck getting the bones out that way.

Sullongtong? Oxtail soup is really tasty, but at the end of the day... it's still just a soup.
Kumtong? See above.

Kimchiggigae? Sokay. Kimchi stew is alright. But again, it's not something to write home about.

J a pchae? Okay, that's legitimately really, really good.

Budaeggigae? Blech.

And I could write up another 50+ dishes if you'd like. I spent three years eating *at least* three lunches and dinners at South Korean army (or air force) chow halls every week.

The fish head soup as a Monday morning hangover cure is real.
