Like, you still weren't good, but you could look at your shit and think "Well it'll do for now" and from that point things began to fall in place. Basically you realized that this was a hobby you could actually stick with

Pretty good!
Great use of proportions, all areas are clearly defined.

You should probably accept that if you're going to do it as any more than a hobby you're gonna want to draw everyday and start start studying anatomy.

Also, you're gonna want to be able to draw a lot more than just manga characters. I don't know what you plan to illustrate but you definitely want way more experience with other stuff even if it is anime or something like it. Maybe take some art classes if you can. It's really cutthroat out there for artists.

i've been drawing with great skill for many years, i have been able to since childhood, but after my 20's i stopped. even with as much as i can do, i wouldn't consider myself anywhere near the professional illustrators i know.

they literally draw at a professional level, daily. it's not something they "make themselves do for a week", it's literally like cooking, or cleaning, or going to the bathroom for professionals. if you're not doing it constantly, then you're already behind. if you haven't been doing it constantly for decades, well, good luck trying to ever catch up.

if you're just doing it as a hobby, well, the sky is the limit. if you're doing it to become a professional artist, then you really need to think about it in a whole different way because you need much more dedication and focus to start matching up to professionals.

probably high school age i was like "yeh I'm not complete shit I think." i've been drawing all my life though, it's not a gift you're born with it's definitely a skill you develop. at most, you can say you're born with a more creative drive.

I'd recommend looking into drawing classes, if you haven't already. I personally think it's important to learn the basics of drawing like understanding proportion, perspective, composition and shading. once you learn that, then it's easier to move on to whichever style of drawing you want to work with. figure drawing is also the most fun I've ever had drawing and one of the best learning experiences I've ever had, totally worth the time.

Y'all exaggerating when y'all say I need to make this my entire lifestyle lol

I'm seeing dudes at Reddit talk about how they started drawing in their 20s and eventually turned into careers later in their 20s

Not at all.

Unless you want trace anime for 80 hours a week or otherwise lesser paid and unwanted job. Do you think illustrators only work 1 day a week or something? You need to take it as seriously as any other job.

Those people on reddit probably had more talent or took it more seriously

What does that have to do with anything?

Keep it as a hobby, sure. But illustrators typically have to draw most days, as you know, work.
