Cis is a shit word. It sounds rubbish. I'm not bothered by it or anything but I get why people are. I mean hetero is a similar kinda word in that it identifies what was long considered the societal norm, but there's zero (or none that I know of) objection to it because it doesn't sound rubbish. You'd think more people would be bothered by a word that people actually use outside of the internet.

The problem is, people don't know that cis is the opposite of trans so they think cis is a newly invented prefix made just for "normal" people which is why they feel attacked by it.

Tbh, Musk probably actually already knows this but he has an agenda to push here.

Unrelated to you and your comment lolife67, there's a profound irony that people will hate being called "cis" because it's a label they themselves didn't ascribe and they want other people to respect how they want to be called.

Nah, they know. They're told about it constantly; the only way they could claim not knowing by this point is with a willful "lalala I can't hear you" argument.

If we were talking about simply "misunderstanding" then that would be one thing. However, you have to couple that with the reaction and refusal to learn the actual meaning that's the problem. The bigotry comes from their reaction.

But, if you say something about it people will just call you weak and fragile for saying something about. Oh so now transphobes want to dictate what people call them and get offended by words? Facts don't care about your feelings. If I see you write with your right-hand, I will say you're right-handed, even if you have a meltdown because you think labels are only for minorities like the lefties.

It's definitely just an ugly sounding word in general, though treating it like a slur is silly.

A cisgendered persons gender identity is whatever sex that they were born as. The VAST majority of people on this planet are that way, therefore, statistically, it is normal.
