Give Me Money!: This song is funny, now give me money.

-{EDGE OF THE FUTURE}: I usually have mixed feelings on Sakimoto's orchestration. It's very hit or miss for me. This one's kinda in-between, but it's been growing on me, especially with the strong emphasis on synths here. It's no Isoleucine, but it's still a great song.

Weight of the World: Yeah, I'm still not a fan of Weight of the World, regardless of the version. You can't have a slow tempo like this and have a super repetitive chorus, it just makes it feel like it's dragging the entire time.

POP TEAM BATTLE: The intro of this one is also pretty misleading. I like how it progresses from a chiptune to a more modern synth-focused song. Pretty neat composition.

Fight the Tower: This one's alright, but the melody's not really grabbing me enough for it to resonate with me. Just kind of a song that exists.

GOLDEN RULE: Cool synths and vocals. I definitely like this one a lot more than EXSPHERE. The piano runs towards the end are great as well.

Mixed day today. Nothing too outstanding, but there were some good ones.

-{EDGE OF THE FUTURE}-
POP TEAM BATTLE
GOLDEN RULE (Long Version)

Give Me Money! is certainly entertaining in how ridiculous it is, though it really just sounds like random instruments clashed together into a sequence. It's funny, yet it doesn't make it feel anything much for it.

EDGE OF THE FUTURE is still a good track, though pretty far from what I heard from 13S as a whole. The voices in the last 2 minutes or so definitely help make it come more alive to me, it did kinda feel like it was dragging a bit during the middle 2 minutes.

I think this might be my first time listening to Weight of the World - the Japanese version, at least - and I really like it! This feels like it's trying to go at a decent pace while trying to sound emotional and impactful, and I definitely feel the latter on that part. I really like the soft vocals here as well, though I'm not too sure how to feel at the end when the vocalist is slowly falling apart; I definitely appreciate the commitment to getting caught up in emotion, though it sounds a little more shaky than I'd prefer it to. Regardless, still a good performance.

POP TEAM is here, and they brought their A game for a kickass battle theme! This goes from classic, catchy JRPG battle theme to high-energy, cool rhythm song and every place in-between, and I am absolutely in favor of it. There's some cool addition of chiptune and trumpets that keep reminding me of Kirby Super Star midi instruments; the whole song is one huge bundle of fun energy that I can't get enough of.

Fight the Tower is some good old-fashioned chiptune-y goodness, it definitely sounds like a cross between Shovel Knight and Castlevania in the synths, heavy bass and guitar used. Fun song for sure!

GOLDEN RULE takes an interesting approach for a rhythm game song, I could see why anyone would think it was an Ar Tonelico song or that it would be from some RPG instead. The chanting, piano and violin mixes in pretty well with the harsher techno elements, this is certainly growing on me quicker than I realize. It's a much more fun song that I was expecting!

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim - -{EDGE OF THE FUTURE}
NieR: Automata - Weight of the World / Kowareta Sekai no Uta
FIGHT KNIGHT - Fight the Tower

MATCH 1

I'm all for silly songs like Give Me Money, but the harsh FM notes are just not for me.

I recently listened to around 80-85% of the 13 Sentinels soundtrack while on a long drive. I unfortunately didn't get far enough to reach Edge of the Future, but listening to it here, it's a decent song, but not amazing. I think the best part is 2:41-3:08. The glockenspiel-like instrument in the background really adds a lot to the brass melody. It feels like a distinct melody in its own right, and I do really like it when there's melodic lines that complement each other. As for the soundtrack, biggest standout for me besides what I already knew from VGMC was Seaside Vacation. I also remember Metal Demon for being pretty cool. One song that's probably to be expected from me and one that's not. It's been a good soundtrack so far, but I think the reception of it here gave me the expectation that I'd like it more than I actually did lol.

MATCH 2

Weight of the World is always a great song to listen to.

Pop Team Battle is a pretty decent song overall. Most of the parts of this song are fine, if a little uninteresting, but 2:03-2:28 was pretty cool with the soft electric guitar and definitely the part that stood out to me the most.

MATCH 3

Fight the Tower is a very cool song! I've said before that I really like how FM synth guitars sound, so that's a plus for this song here. Overall, it has a good melody as well as good harmonic backing. My favorite part is at 0:55-1:09 where the lead melody hits those higher-pitched notes and the choir comes in.

The start of Golden Rule isn't all that special, but it gets better when additional instruments come in, starting with the violin at 0:38, to add a stronger melodic layer underneath the vocals.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim - -{EDGE OF THE FUTURE}
Duel Masters Play's - POP TEAM BATTLE
FIGHT KNIGHT - Fight the Tower

Fight the Tower > POP TEAM BATTLE > Weight of the World Kowaretasekainouta - Marina Kawano > -{EDGE OF THE FUTURE} > GOLDEN RULE (Long Version) > Give Me Money (Angela Belti's Theme)

Give Me Money is... not good. Obnoxious vocals and bad instrumentation do not make this a favorite. At least the backing guitar is decent with the instrumentation? Yeah no the rest of this sucks ass. Not huge on -{EDGE OF THE FUTURE}, but at least it's not Give Me Money. Weight of the World is decent, but it's another song I'm not huge on. I can feel the emotion in the song at least, which is what puts it above EDGE OF THE FUTURE. POP TEAM BATTLE is cool, but does it *need* to be this long? Fight the Tower is probably just as cool but it isn't 6 minutes long for no reason so that gives it an automatic boost to me. Do not like GOLDEN RULE's Ar tonelico-esque vocals. Not a great day imo
