I tried to pivot to how the annual budget is in the trillions, so even if we did just cut a check for $10bil it wouldn't even mean anything. Tried talking about how they'd use the money instead - the obvious 'help Americans here' and pointed out that's hard when the GOP shuts down any helpful bill out of either pure spite or outright malice.
