It does increase the likelihood that someone who actually knows what they're talking about has a say in important decisions though.

How?
Capitalism is survival of the fitness (In Musk's case his fitness niche is conman.) and self correcting to some extent. He has no business as CEO and it's crashing and burning because of it. He's losing money. Again, that's capitalism working as intended.
Socialism, party politics can get you into positions you have no justification in being.

Were there, perhaps, benefits to others in the use of that property?

Taken to the extreme, should no private company be able to close shop? Presumably any sustainable business was providing benefits to the patrons.
What makes Twitter special? It was never* sustainable as far as I know.

When a newspaper owner decides to lay off its staff and stop publication, is that mainly an impact on him?

No but if he literally can't keep it running because not enough people are buying the paper, what other option is/should there be?

Because you wouldn't have people who actually work in the field get their ideas and input rejected by some CEO with an ego who doesn't know what he's talking about. Kinda like what's happening with Twitter and what happened with OceanGate.

Survival of the fittest is complete bullshit. The consequences of capitalism "working as intended" are the working class becoming collateral damage to sate the egos of the wealthy, while those same billionaires fall into a golden safety net.

It's not about who's the most fit; it's about who's the most rich.
