Asking because I am interested in joining college....and the Air Force, but with all this stuff changing recently I'm not sure if I'd have any debt afterwards.

The public service debt nullification is still in effect. Military counts but working any government job does too. Except USPS I think.

Joining the military is a good way to acquire money. Especially if you deploy. I left active duty at 22 with 25k in my account, my car paid off, free schooling, getting paid to go to school, etc..

Really set me up for life

Yeah the benefits are great, especially if you can pick up some relevant career training.

Just don't be an idiot with your money when you're in the military. I've seen dudes get financially crippled, usually dumbass young E-1's who blow their enlistment bonuses on cars and booze as soon as they graduate boot, then marry a stripper, then divorce her once you inevitably discover she's screwed half the base while you were deployed.

Only if you're dumb and fall into the common traps. Your E-5's and above will probably warn you about them, but if you're dumb, you'll probably ignore their advice.

Or if a war starts. It's very unlikely, but then there were people who signed up in just before 9/11 thinking they'd have an easy couple years of service in exchange for debt relief who then wound up going to war.

Happened to my friend in college. He signed up with the military in 2000 to get free dental school. In exchange he had to spend five years serving, part of which was in Afghanistan and part of which was in Iraq. He never went near the front lines but it was still pretty scary.

Anyway the point is that you never know. Even if the risk is small, it's not zero.

And who are you, my little friend? Not a spoon... not a fork... but something in between. A fpoon. What will you think of next, Germany?

If you want to avoid the front lines, the vast majority of the Navy and Air Force should be safe. Just don't sign up for any special forces shit or Corpsman and you'll be fine (Corpsman sucks now anyway, advancement is next to nil). Even many Marines and Army are kept on bases (they're derided as "Fobbits") depending on their MOSs. Like you're not going to send a mess cook on a combat patrol unless things are well and truly FUBAR.

The US Navy hasn't faced any worthy sea rival since Japan, and they've wised up after the USS Cole bombing.

100%. You only get to bite the bait once; after they've extracted the surplus value from you they'll never take you back.

Pay attention when they teach you survival skills, you'll need them for sleeping in a cold concrete underpass and running from cop eviction squads for the rest of your life.
