Damn, I was too late.

Back in the day getting to the point you needed to change disk always felt like a big moment. Especially in regards to Final Fantasy. The end of a disk always seemed to match up with key plot points. It's one thing I do miss from recent games. You don't have that "point" at disc changes that mark big shifts in the story.

Why do I need a disk 2? Disk 1 was mostly cut scenes dealing with Momo being delivered to scientists and an hour of game play.

This is funnily enough why mgs4 was ps3 exclusive. Too many disc's for the 360.

I wonder how disc switching is gonna work on ps5 for ff7 rebirth.

Same method as the old PC days when games came in these big boxes having 2-4 install discs now that consoles are essentially portable PCs.

For something like TLOU2 or Cyberpunk, first bluray disc installs the maximum amount of working 4K data (about 50GB if dual layered) to the drive to completion and then Disc 2 installs the remainder (between 25-50GB) in addition to serving as the sole disc you use to play the game.

So all in all after typical day 1 patches, could be >110GB...

I felt that the first Last of Us kind of replicated this feeling with the seasons, but I know what you mean.

Fear Effect and its sequel had like 4 discs lol

Nightmares of Legend of Dragoon. Discs seemed more location based. Finally get the money to buy the god armor from the first village? Change discs a few times as you travel back across the world map.
