Frequent monthly updates and a clean unobtrusive user interface

My work phone is a pixel. I am a long time Galaxy user. I cannot stand my work pixel for what it is worth. I can't figure out to to run it.

There are some mild benefits to switching to pixel, primarily that you get OS updates for far longer than you would on a galaxy. So if you were hoping to get a phone and then keep it for a really long time, the pixel is going to have a much better shelf life.

I guess cost would be another one since the Galaxy phones are now up there with Apple in terms of being expensive.

Otherwise, I guess it would really come down to which features matter to you. Like, I don't know how good the camera is on the pixel but if photography is a big deal I know that that can be pretty wildly different from one manufacturer to another.

This is no longer the case. Pixels now get 3 years of OS updates followed by 2 years of security updates. New Galaxy phones get 4 years of OS updates and additional year of security patches. In each case youll get 5 years of security updates, but a Samsung will net you an additional OS update.

I like Pixels when Im on android because the software is clean and Google includes nice phone features, like call screening. Samsungs usually come with a bunch of preinstalled bullshit you have to uninstall or disable, which irritates me. I find the Pixel software less busy and easier to figure out than Samsungs OneUI, but thats personal preference really. Samsungs have nicer screens and better batteries though.

Oh, that's unfortunate. One of the biggest selling points of buying directly through google was supposed to be a longer shelf-life in terms of updates since they don't have to get routed through a third party. I guess that was proving untenable, though.

You'd basically be going from Lexus to Toyota.
