Is this just an attempt to consolidate more wealth and political power by targeting a small group? Like 'here is your new Boogeyman!' kind of like the whole bullshit razorblades and drugs in Halloween candy in the 60s-80s.

Thing is the people that vote for them give 0 fucks. They absolutely notice the people having their lives ruined, they just don't care, more often then naught because of their belief system.

the middle managers are true believers. they hate, and are acting on their hate. their goal is absolute annihilation.

but the bosses? their goals are the same as they've always been. accumulate as much money and power possible, for the sake of money and power. everyone is a tool to them, to be used for as long as they are useful and then replaced when they are not.

I maintain many of the rich doing thus don't even hate trans people. They just don't care. They know they can get away with sacrificing them for personal gain. So they do it because they can. Which somehow makes it even worse.

The genocide really isn't the goal per se, even though it would be the end result. The purpose is just to keep people distracted so they never look at how much the ruling class is fucking everyone over. The main reason it actually leads to anything is because of the side effect that it becomes the outlet for what influence the true believers do have (and the alarming thing is that the collective actual influence of said true believers has been growing faster than probably intended.)

The problem with demanding you be treated like every other human being, is that there are a lot of people that feel like you're attacking them by... y'know, just asking to be allowed to live peacefully.

That said, as with all targeted hate, the goal is non-existence, which is super fucked up. Hate is also a super good tool for politicians that pander to it to pull in votes, sad as that is.

GOP has two camps on this I feel.

Wants Genocide
And moral panic for votes

Sometimes both

It also makes shaky temporary alliances with groups it deems undesirable until it's convenient to turn on them again.

We're already seeing the barrel shifting back towards gay people. And black people aren't far down the firing line, either.

For the cynics in power, it's exactly this. It's a wedge issue that keeps the lower classes divided while they continue to pilfer the country. For the true believers, the end goal is nothing short of genocide.

The right can't campaign on policy anymore since the average working class American realizes Republican policy is bullshit.

What they've instead chosen to do is manufacture a fake panic over transpeople so they can campaign on "fixing" the "problem".
