Do you use Google search?

Search Engine Roundtable found that Google had removed 52% of Twitter links since the crackdown began last week. Twitter now blocks users who are not logged in and sets limits on reading tweets.

I'm confused. Are they removing links because they're not visible anymore, or because their contract with Twitter involved boosting the sites visibility in search results and with Elon refusing to pay Twitter is going back to only appearing as often as it always should have?

I'm pretty sure it's the first reason stated. A lot of queries could be satisfied by Twitter links if they didn't require a log in.

Makes sense. Shouldn't have to be logged in somewhere to see results on a Google search

If googlebot detects a website doesn't exist anymore it deletes it from the search results automatically.

There's a process to request a manual scan if you want this done faster and have the power to delete the website. I've had to do this on occasion to delete some cached PII in some of my company's website URLs.

Googlebot is probably getting blocked at login authentication which has the same net effect.
