Yes, I tried each RAM stick in each slot separately.

It honestly could be my CPU? The CPU light is red now and my computer has been randomly restarting for months now.

It's typically not a good idea to ignore early warning signs like a computer shutting off by itself. If you try to tackle the problem earlier you can run software that can help identify the issue in some cases.

This is like someone driving around with a car that has some issue for months then all of a sudden it's a huge issue.

Yeah that's common sense. I'm not always responsible. What a shocker lol

My psu is dying and I don't want to spend $100 on it, it only happens when I'm in game at 4k

But I also don't want it to blow up and take out everything else with it

It's 10 years old

I'm surprised it wasn't the ram. 90% of the time you get a BSOD or the computer can't boot, it is the ram. I know you kinda tested it, but I would try a stick from your boyfriend's computer (assuming it is compatible) to be really sure. Also, what error do you get with the BSOD?

We did not put mine in his but I'm sure we will this weekend.

I've been getting memory management and system service exception BSoDs

I just got done troubleshooting my brother's PC. I ran tests for RAM, CPU, GPU, NVME, PSU, drivers, etc.

His memory dump / BSOD logs and all the results led me to determine his motherboard was faulty. He has no trouble after replacing his motherboard.

Btw, he was having random hard locks, freezing, random shut offs, and sometimes would not even boot.

Not sure every tests you have performed or all the exact results. I can offer any help if you would like.

do you have an OEM Windows disc? it used to be possible to do a repair install back in the XP days which would usually correct Windows failing to boot problems.

in Windows 10 not sure if there is something similar. I know the DSIM suggestion is one way. I know there are lots of confusing recovery options in Windows 10 when it fails to boot. Can you get to that menu?

(what I would want to do is boot from something other than your current Windows installation. if you still lock-up or BSOD from a completely different boot source, then it's hardware. if you can boot from a different source with no problems, then the windows installation has a corrupted device driver or something).

You can just take out the GPU and use the HDMI on the mb unless you don't have integrated graphics

If you can get in, run memtest86 and post results

At this point, I'd say buy a new mb. If that doesn't work, buy a new CPU. I'd guess something on your mb is cooked.

She said she reinstalled windows on a new drive, so that should rule out any software/drive corruption issues unless there is a glitched driver that keeps getting reinstalled.

No. I said I created a Windows installation tool. At no point have I been able to reinstall windows. The BSoD pops up when it tries to install a fresh Windows. I can't do any recovery or reset options without a BSoD.

You could start with 1 , or buy both.

if you stick with your current CPU, need to google with boards it is compatible with

if you stick with current mobo, maybe see if you can find the Same processor or slightly newer that will fit

I just have an Intel based MSI motherboard.

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-Z690-A-DDR4

Do you have any ones you'd recommend in a similar price range I can look at?

Or do you think my current warranty would help? It's only 2 years and a few months from the date of purchase.

It could be a likely culprit if its not pulling the power properly. Worth a try I guess
