Haven't finished the game yet, but these later sidequests are bangers. Just did the one in Boklad involving certain characters and it made me tear up. You even get to see cutscenes involving Cid's past in some of them.

I agree. I know people want more out of their side quests but I like how it really opens up the world and its people to you. That one in Boklad really hurt me though.

Yeah, the shitty FFXIV-like quests with horrible rewards is weighed up with exploring the world and the effects of what is happening, and I like how it builds up, and that many of the are follow ups.

I really love the Blackthorne questline.

Not everything has to just be about stats and awesome rewards.

I skipped past all the side quests and then hit the time jump and started regretting it. I have an earliest save, is it worth replaying a little bit just to experience some or are they much better now anyway?

Honestly you could just watch them on youtube. I wasnt still sold at thr side quests at that point until the final areas before time skip.

But another thing I like is the random NPC barks have small stories as you go along like that gay couple in Northreach. Made me want to go certain routes just to hear whats going on with different people through thr story.

The side quests in the early parts of the game aren't really worth it imo. They get much better as you progress.

I'm in NG+ and I'm wondering what sidequests I can skip, to do them all again will be tedious and I'm afraid I'll burn out but I want to do all the important stuff again and get the best equipment etc.

I literally just finished mopping up all the sidequests and finished the game now. Currently watching the credits roll.

I wasn't a huge fan of the sidequests in this one. I did enjoy the lore you got from them, but they all felt the same. Especially at the end when it dumps what feels like 30 on you at once after each previous chapter having like 3. lol

Yeah the first few side quests do not leave a good impression, even though I did like that the one where you deliver soup because it did flesh out the hideaway more by giving each of the npcs a little story to tell.

Does anyone else talk to that woman in the hideaway in the later part of the game just to see who she has a crush on? I always go check in on her to see who she's in love with this time lol

Yes, the later side quests are quite good. They really expand upon all of the side characters in a meaningful way.

My personal favourite NPC at the base is the boy who has different animals.

The side quests themselves are boring as all hell, the story building is what is good about them.
