I can't speak for anyone else but the yen's really weak right now so it's a fairly optimal time to go to Japan

I couldn't believe how cheap everything was there. I went out to eat with six people at a hundred year old soba shop owned by a master. I offered to pay for everyones meal, and i braced for a big bill, but nah - only $40. For six people. For the best soba i ever had in my life. Crazy.

That sounds really nice. Its like $40 in America for 3 people to eat fast food these days :/

yeah I visited for the first time in three years (since before the pandemic) last December and I was blown away by the inflation, and on top of that my money was basically worthless. Not a great combination!

Ive never been to Japan, but I cant imagine its a worse place to stay than America right now. Inflation aka mostly corporate greed desiring Covid record profits still making everything insanely expensive with no end in sight and then all the other shit we still have constantly like mass shootings and a major increase in American Nazis. Wouldnt be surprised if a decent amount of Americans wish they lived in a different country these days

Sure, but VI in particular has always been way more popular here than in Japan.
