I appreciated the much darker tone and dramatic tension the show brought to Star Wars. It also seemed like a risk to put so much focus on a single character from a side movie, and it paid off imo. I enjoyed the storytelling, it felt fairly real, like this is how I'd imagine a rebellion would be unfolding in its early stages. Plus the main characters are pretty great, both the heroes and the villains. Plenty of depth to all of them.

oh and B2EMO is best droid.

My only complaint is that there were so many minor characters and you had no clue who they all were or how important they were to the overall story until the very end. Big shootout scenes happen and some guy dies and they get 3-4 seconds of camera time on their dead body like you should really know and care about them.

This kept happening over and over. I get they want to put more emotional weight on the actual physical (and often needless) sacrifices the rebellion incurred, but it felt too heavy handed in its delivery and I felt more guilt that I had no clue who half of the people dying were than the guilt over their actual death.

It's a big show with 3-4 parallel stories that converged at the end of the season, that's already really taxing for the human brain to keep track of.

Anyway I am looking forward to season 2. Now the next thing on my Star Wars bucket list is season 2 of Bad Batch.

The only issue is the pacing of the first three episodes, IDK how necessary the childhood flashbacks were. Otherwise it feels like an adaptation of an 80's/90's EU novel, which is a giant compliment.
