This is what AI really should be used for. A couple more advancements like this and we'll be playing in more fleshed out worlds.

Seems a little wonky, but the entertainment potential is still definitely there. And honestly, the wonkiness is on-brand for Skyrim.

Man, when they fine tune this, it has some amazing potential for games.

Wow. I know AI is gonna be used for evil eventually, but in the mean time it's great seeing how it's being used for mods (and memes).

I should be excited for this, but with the way things are going I can only think of this as it gets officially implemented into games and think "Great, another way for publishers to make sure we own nothing that we buy."

At least it'll be fun to mess with here and now.

I don't know why you would want a LESS curated experience in rpgs. Everyone keeps mentioning the use of AI in rpgs for dialogue and the like, and I just don't get the appeal. I want a highly curated, plot driven game, not the equivalent of Skyrim radiant quests/dialogue for every NPC that's not a part of the main story.

Part of the fun of followers is that you have favorites, and can relate to other players as you all essentially experienced the same game. It doesn't appeal to me that everyone might be experiencing these characters differently in every game because of AI.

Isn't this the one where they're stealing a voice actress' voice without consent and making her say inappropriate stuff?

I guess I'll chalk it up to difference in opinion but it sounds so unappealing to me. In the same vein of procedurely generated levels and "content" that end up feeling completely hollow despite the fact that there's a neverending amount of it.

Man, I do hope it doesn't become standard. I don't want to have to talk to my fuckin' games on the regular. I'm all for AI for workplace and research applications and whatnot, but this is just going to make games even more time intensive if it becomes the norm.

It's also going to make always online an even fucking bigger requirement. Hate the way this garbage is going.

I'll stop playin those/new games if it comes to that time, I don't think I implied I wouldn't. Voice chatting with a bot to get tasks done in a game that could be accomplished in a fraction of the time through standard means isn't my idea of fun.

Thats actually really cool. Gonna look into trying this.

thing is on consoles they would have to do it differently on pc yeah it would probably be like that

They would have to do it differently in the current console landscape, but that simple fact is that always-online required consoles are definitely coming. Physical sales are already declining pretty hard, to there's no reason to -not- do it now, and the backlash basically will be almost completely ignorable nowadays because gamers have shown they never stick to their words anyway.

So no, it likely will not be any different on consoles by the time this becomes standard, since the next console gen is about 4 1/2 years away from what we know(supposedly, anyway)

The extend of effort I want to put into a single player gaming while reclining in a comfy chair is moving my fingers (and maybe wrists, minimally) on a mkb or pad.

That's basically what I'm saying. If I want interaction I have half a million online games I can play, but for a single player game? I want to kick back, chill, and do whatever I want with as little work as possible.

I have to talk to people almost all day at work, I don't want to go home and talk to not-real people to navigate a conversation so I can learn about why I need to kill 27 rats for generic NPC #49
