Pi day is a thing, why would Prime day not be a thing as well?

  1. Because Pi day happens on the same date each year and is therefore easy to observe, whereas "Prime Day" like you're proposing would happen ~50 times in certain years, but not at all in most other years, becoming less and less frequent as time went on. Not exactly a practical thing to celebrate
  2. Because Amazon's "Prime" service is well-enough established internationally that that should be what most people think of first even if they aren't familiar with the fact that Amazon does this annually, especially in the context of "finds" and other word choices that imply shopping
  3. Because you already knew today was not a day with three prime numbers because 2023 is not a prime number, meaning it was obviously something else

Oh, Prime Video? That is established here yes. Although I cannot say I ever paid money for something outside of the subscription.

Ended up ordering the stethoscope, but in a different color (stainless steel with a burgundy tube instead of brass-colored with a black tube), for $184.

Also ordered a few boardgames: Hickory Dickory for $47.70 (current price is $57), and Mice & Mystics for $56 (not actually Prime, but lower price than usual).

Ordered two Aeotec SmartThings motion sensors for $32 each (currently $40), a Titan 1/4" swivel head micro ratchet for $16 (currently $19), a box of ten 1' extension cords for $13 (currently $22), a very nice brass nose hair trimmer for $19 (currently $24), an Ooma handset for $30 (currently $50), two Z-Wave smoke/CO detectors for $33 each (currently $40), a half pound of orange powder for $17 (currently $21), and a half pound of raspberry powder for $18 (currently $23)

Honestly Prime Day is pretty trash. Just getting rid of overstock that nobody buys by lowering the price.

I remember the first Prime Day, they were touting it would be basically black friday. It wasn't.

Even Amazon's black fridays, as are most stores, are pretty paltry these days. Gone are the days were a game released 2 weeks earlier is on sale for $29.99 instead of $59.99 for one day. I worked retail on black friday back in the mid 2000s. It was a nightmare. We worked 4am-7pm and the company literally was giving us energy drinks to stay awake. It was basically those old videos you see of people breaking down the doors to get in.

Exactly. A more regional term, that is used by foreigners as a term for all. And of course the majority from said region will not complain, but the other part considers it insulting.
