I was looking forward to this movie regardless (to the point I actually made the mistake of thinking it was coming out a year ago >_>) but I wasn't expecting it to pull such spectacular critical reception.

I watched the movie last night and if these are the reviews it's considerably overrated. It was pretty goodish but the length and silliness of the Italy scene drags the movie down among a few other things. Really wanted Ethan and co. whirlwind backhand Grace for her selfishness and stupidity, by of course since she is the starlet of the movie she can do no wrong.

I'm just going to make a prediction prior to seeing it but Solomon Lane gets teased at the end to set up the series finale.

Can't diffuse the Cruise.

Not always, but a lot of the time they are dishonest hype men.

I enjoyed it. Worse than 4 or 6 out of the "recent" ones, but still decent.

Definitely suffers from being part 1 of 2 however. Hayley Atwell was very charming here. I also didn't notice the first 2 hours passing by.

I agree with it being worse than recent MI movies, partially due to being part 1. But Atwell's character Grace was only cute for a little because she devolves into being a Macguffin far too much.

Is this like real or over hype? Because everyone was saying John Wick 4 was like the best action movie in the decade and i thought it was just on par with 2 and 3.

There are a few good scenes but this is overhype for sure.

Originally I thought I heard they were not going to name this one "Dead Reckoning, Part 1" because the sequel wasn't going to be named "Part 2" but I guess they reneged on that.

Its a better Uncharted movie than the actual Uncharted movie.

I do wonder if the writers have played the Uncharted games.

Yeah the last few segments of the train scene at the end were clearly inspired by Uncharted 2's.

I was spoiled by a friggin' ad for the movie.

I liked it. I liked it a lot. Fun fun movie.

Pom is a baddie. Like I'm willing to risk it all.

Hayley is adorable. She's mastered that face of "I'm keeping it together even though I'm in way over my head".

Simon and Ving are cute as always.

Tom keeps running. That man will die running, I guarantee you.

Oh and having Henry Czerny back doing his smooth asshole routine was very welcome. It's definitely bringing in "full circle" vibes with the relationship between Kittridge and Hunt.

EDIT: Oh and this movie really HATES motorcycles. Like sadism level.

Dunno if you've seen the new MI but she's great in it. Just so much emotion and she has like 2 actual lines. She's the third best part of this movie and that's saying a lot.

He does not fucking deserve it no matter how hard he works at action scenes in movies. He's literally no better than any insane Trump cultist, worse in some ways. Many of them only support horrible shit. He's complicit in it.

I'm not saying anyone is bad for seeing the movie. There are other actors and crew involved in it and maybe a lot of people may still be ignorant of who he really is. But it's just odd how we all pretend he's not an unforgivable piece of shit.

The worst thing I have done in life is be a bit of a stubborn jerk on the Internet. My "personal life" doesn't include being an integral part of a destructive cult that has swindled, abused, possibly even killed others. I haven't been complicit in covering up rapes, poisoning dogs, destroying families, or denying anyone psychiatric treatment.

Being a big part of a cult is a bit different than if an actor was just practicing Buddhism in his backyard. Of course Tom Cruise wouldn't bring it up. People tend to not shine light on their crimes.

I haven't, not sure that I will. I've only seen 1 MI randomly some years ago (maybe 7?), not sure I even remember enough details to say which one it was.

Nothing against the series, I was just never dedicated to it.
