Seems like he's resting on his laurels right now, too sure of victory. Why neither he nor Hillary learned anything from Obama's campaigns is beyond me.

Biden needs to ramp up his 2024 campaign preparations

In what way?
He doesn't have a real primary to worry about and is instead busy actually doing his job.

Well I was gonna drag that one dude but looks like I'd just be dog piling (thought it's deserved)

As far as Biden goes, he doesn't even know for sure who he's running against yet and besides I think he does better if he maintains his boring but gets work done image for as long as possible. Once he has an actual opponent he'll have to go into campaign mode to counteract the narrative from whoever the nominee is.

But based on who is running now I think it's Bidens race to lose. I don't think trump can win a general election and the more DeSantis gets out there the worse he looks. No one else in the race has a shot at winning the primary unless something causes trump to not be able to run anymore. If that happens it becomes a much more interesting race imo, DeSantis has a commanding lead right now over the rest of the field but if trump is gone everyone can focus on taking him down and I think he'll fall apart instantly.

I think there are some candidates in the primary that in a general could be a real challenge for Biden but I don't think they make it out of the primary as long as trump remains

Democrats need to make daily ads showing how for the past few decades, Every. Single. Time. a Republican has become president, our economy goes down the drain and then the next Democrat president spends their entire presidency fixing the economy, but never better than it was before only for a Republican to become president to fuck it again.

Either way is infinitely better than letting a Republican spend four more years helping fuck up the world for future generations.

And screw whoever wants to say we should vote Republican because of the economy.
1 - Republicans only abide by free market principles when it suits them and they should no longer be seen as the party of economic efficiency. Tax cuts for the rich, for example, don't cancel out protectionist trade policies.
2 - As a political economy major, the viability of this planet for human life is far more important than any form of currency we create to divvy up our dwindling, limited resources with the technology we have at hand.

I dont get why anyone thinks Republicans are good for the economy. For the past few decades, Every. Single. On a percentage level absolutely not. His favorables have consistently been lower than Obama's at the same points of their presidency.

In terms of total supporters yes, but Trump also had more total supporters than Obama; that's just how population growth works, there are more people alive now than in 2008/2012.

One of the most frustrating things about four year terms is how short-sighted it causes people to be. Then even worse, presidents are incentivized to do what they can to make the economy look strong in the short term, even if the policy is likely to lead to unforeseen consequences eight years down the line. Not that I'd want to do away with four-year election cycles, as I see them as a necessary evil. Like I said earlier, I just wish people could be a bit smarter. And maybe be willing to vote with the interest of the whole in mind versus just themselves, but I realize that's a lot to ask because if we won't be shitty, other people are bound to be shitty anyways.
