Oppenheimer was a true playa. Can't say I recommend having Florence Pugh stare you in the face while she rides Oppen D and you're sitting next to your mom though.

Both movies were great in their own way. I was very engaged by the characters in Oppenheimer; very invested in many of them. With Barbie, it was just so much fun with a few moments of reflection too. It's funny because I remember when I first saw the trailers for both of these since we've very avid movie goers, and I didn't think much of either of them. I felt like Barbie would be awful and Oppenheimer would be boring, but neither of those things turned out to be true. As a lover of the theater business, I'm really happy for everyone involved in this huge success.

Saw Barbie finally and... this movie was fun, but not nearly as good as a lot of people are saying? The last act is a complete mess of a film that I'm just kind of lost on what all they wanted us to take away from the movie, and a lot of the jokes there really didn't land. It seemed like a rush to the finish at one point that didn't really wrap everything up cleanly.

Really expected to like Oppenheimer better, but Barbie was legitimately good and surprised me enough to say I favor it a bit. It's a fun little fever dream.

Oppenheimer had the best scenes though.

Oppenheimer was a great drama. I gave it a high B.

I do think that whoever marketed Oppenheimer was a bit of a genius too. Ive been hearing everywhere how it is a movie that NEEDS to be seen on IMAX for the explosion scene. Andit does not at all. It is very much not an IMAX experience movie. I couldve taken the same experience away from it just seeing it at home on tv. Riveting sure, but it has little to no scenes that require IMAX.

IMAX really isn't about big spectacle scenes. Honestly I agree that the spectacle parts of the movie weren't amazing, Fury Road and Dune had better big-screen effect type scenes. But the dialogue scenes benefit the most from IMAX. When there's less to see, the increased resolution has even higher impact.

The best thing about going to watch it in IMAX wasn't the visuals, but nearly being thrown out of my seat from the sound.

The last time I went to an Imax it hurt my ears. Painful enough that I resolved not to go to more Imax movies if possible. I guess others don't have that issue?
