However, 22 is pretty young, so you just need to think about stages of life. My fiance was already 28 when we started dating and had a career and a good deal of money.

For me that age is 25. I've just passed 30 now and I don't think I've gotten wiser in the last 5 years. I've accumulated more knowledge but I may also have forgotten stuff. I don't feel I'm getting smarter tho.

18 and any other high af age is legal, the end. If the issue is "will they get along/bond?" coming from different generations or whatever I can agree with that but that's a problem for those two? adults to face no one else.

I just think we never know what is going on. Assume they have a real connection that has nothing to do with age. If they don't, they'll break up. No biggie.

I can admit that many years ago, I would have given the side-eye as well. My experience changed me.

22 year olds are immature, but the thing is 34 year olds can be immature too. But interest-wise, all it takes it actually taking an interest in the other person's interest, so I don't think the generational gap is as big of an issue as some people will try to convince you otherwise.

But man, like remember us in the early 20's? That's still like a baby age to me. It's crazy that so much of the burden of autonomy is left to people at such a young age.

Should it be illegal? I don't think so.

Is it a good idea? Probably not. A lot of people target younger people because they think their immaturity can let them feel superior and/or manipulate the younger partner.

If it's not that, my observation is that most of the time it's a situation where the older person is stuck in an immature mindset. At first they're on the same wavelength, but eventually the younger person will mature and get tired of the older person's bullshit real fast.

I knew several girls in college who had relationships like that. They all ended badly. One of them had a wife and family he wasn't telling the girl about... I remember one of them was dating a 40 year old when she was 20 and saying, "It's amazing, I'm finally dating someone at the same maturity level as me!" Six month later she was telling us how she didn't know what she ever saw in that man-child lol.

Anyway I think they should have every right to date but I wouldn't recommend it. Once she hits 30 it won't matter, but 12 years is still a huge gap at those ages.
