2 years ago after day 20 (80 characters left) I posted my list of 10 that the winner would come from, 5 of them made the top 10 and 2 of them were in the finals; I don't know if that was luck or skill but I felt like I had my finger on the pulse of the contest.

I was thinking of doing a similar "potential winners list" this year but I could only see 5 characters winning and frankly, didn't want to put that energy into the universe when there's only 1 that matters to me...

But really, I'm also not feeling the zeitgeist like in XXIII, there is plenty of room for surprises and compelling runs this year, we have more than a few new users and many regulars no longer participating. Though plenty of time for people to return too, I suppose. But this year is certainly wide open.

(just would really rather win this year to avoid the Cid juggernaut next year tbh)

I feel like this year the top 3 is going to be one standard expected character, one pet character nobody expected, and someone random who just picks up steam as others get eliminated (like Agrias deep run)

I'm expecting Aeris to follow the same trajectory that Celes had in the bot contests, where she just keeps losing finals to progressively weaker characters.

As for XVI, I don't have as much faith as the rest of you, especially if Ifrit is a proxy for Clive right now.

with bot contest it does have the difference of "well she'll be back here in a week" as opposed to in a year, but I could see it

I dunno I think I've seen more sentiment in the annual runs of "alright lets help them get their win" that Celes never found in the 6-month long botcon

Been missing a lot of saves this contest, so I was due for this elimination

I didn't have my phone by me as I ate dinner and then watched Land Before Time with my kid, so I never saw the round. Was a decent evening to have if a character I like is eliminated, though, so I guess it's not all bad.
