Someone in Minnesota might be a millionaire, and they don't even know it.

Last year, a lucky lottery player bought a winning $1 million Mega Millions ticket at the Casey's General Store in Fridley for the July 29, 2022 drawing.

But the person with the winning numbers has yet to claim their prize, and time is running out.

In Minnesota, Mega Millions players have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize. And with July 29, 2023 right around the corner... the clock is ticking to check your tickets.

The winning numbers from the July 29, 2022 drawing were: 13, 36, 45, 57 and 67. You'll need to match all five numbers to claim the $1 million prize.

Not to be a downer, but what if the winner either died or went to jail, and has no way of claiming that money?

So if its not claimed, does it go back into the next drawing? Probate? Something else?

I think the state gets it.

I wonder if they have to lose half of it to taxes.

There was a story where some guy in Boston (or another place in Mass) who left a winning ticket behind but the cashier tried to scheme and cash it for themselves. They used camera footage and purchase history to find the actual winner.

I wonder why they can't do the same for cases like these? I guess some states or stores don't have that type of tracking of lotto purchases.

And you be amazed on how many winning scratch offs I've found in the street.
