MGSV - The potential was there, but there was almost no meat to the game. Just repetitive missions in a bland open world Skyrim - I don't think I've ever been so hyped for a game. I originally purchased it on PS3 and the game was almost unplayable after a certain number of hours. Your save file would bloat and absolutely tank the frame rate to slideshow levels. I've since enjoyed it on other platforms, but that original run with the game was so disappointing. ... Copied to Clipboard!

EDIT y'know, now that I think about it, there's probably plenty of people out there who never experienced the original ending. I still maintain that Broken Steel doesn't exactly fix what pissed me off so much about it, but I imagine the retconned 'ending' would certainly be far less rage-inducing for a first-time player. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read https://imgur.com/1WshTZu - by DB_Insider https://imgur.com/eW67nT8 - by Wii_Shaker ... Twilight Princess. It was the one of the first games I got with the Wii (alongside Marvel Ultimate Alliance and something else I forget), and it was first Wii game I returned to Gamestop a few weeks later. There were two major disappointments, and a whole bunch of minor ones. First and foremost was the introduction stage. There is absolutely zero reason for townlife Link to be as long and as necessary to progress as it is. It is an okay chore the first time through, getting a handle on the controls, learning old and new things to know in this game, and meet a bunch of characters who seem like they would be a strong supporting cast in the future. The second time through, it is an hour of doing the most basic shit you've already done to get items you'll never equip again soon after, catching the most annoying cat ever, and talking to a bunch of people you never need interact with again after the second dungeon. It is an unskippable chore that makes wanting to boot up a new file and replay the game a major obstacle at the outset. The second disappointment is the map. Those first two or three dungeons and their surrounding lands are so relatively full and yet such a small portion of the overall map that the hype was real for what else was out there, especially those big wide expanses to the north. Turns out it's just a snowboarding track and a river rafting track and that's the 40% of map space that was still fogged out. Not to mention how empty a lot of the places feel, despite a lot of collectibles. There are definitely great aspects to the game. The artstyle is still one of the best in the series, Wolf Link and Midna is an incredible partnership, Twilight is appropriately gloomy and stressing, a majority of the dungeons and bosses are the best the series has to offer, and the final events are some of the most desperate and thrilling in the series (despite usurping the plot almost out of nowhere). But empty fields that are far too large for what they contain, poe hunting, blips of character interaction, an inventory filled with near useless items outside their respective dungeons, tons of weird lore that seemed made more for hype trailers than any gameplay impact, a dearth of reasons to explore places (oh great, another cave with a chest of rupees), and oh god the rupees. YES I KNOW BLUE IS WORTH 5. YOU DON'T NEED TO TELL ME EVERY TIME I RELOAD MY SAVE. Oh, and the fishing was really good, really chill. I do think I should've kept the game sometimes exclusively to fish. Other disappointments: - Justice League Task Force (SNES) both in terms of being an awful game and not any of the games I asked for for Christmas. - Everquest II (PC) felt extremely pay-to-play from the outset and lacked so much charm from the original. I just remember a really bland beach, ugly character models, a lack of pockets, and a whole host of little red flags that put me off immediately. --- "In my headcanon, some staffer saw Trump pull out his phone and start typing so they just Terry Tate Office Linebacker'd him out of his shoes." - FFD ... Metal Gear Solid 5. That game got absolutely massacred to be able to see release. Story was a mess, and they didn't even let Keifer Sutherland have enough voice lines to justify replacing David Hayter. Not enough Camp Omega style areas, too much open world empty space garbage. So many loose ends and new threads for a game that was supposed to close the gap between Big Boss's arc from MGS3 to MG1 That said I still love the game to death. Best stealth gameplay of any game still to this day, and I'm hoping they incorporate some of the cool stuff into the MGS3 remake --- A hunter is a hunter...even in a dream [She/they] ... Red Dead Redemption 2 - Just insanely slow and boring. Thought I just wasn't into the whole immersion and life sim thing, but I'm liking Persona 5 a lot. Maybe because Persona 5 comes with a fast forward button and every little minor task you do seems to build into something you will need long term. Robot2600 posted... A friend got me hyped for Overwatch 2 :/ sighAside from the store front and cancelled pve the game is an improvement in every way on the multiplayer front. 5v5 makes the game so much easier to balance and that's one thing that's been being praised almost every season by content creators and top players. Also since we no longer have two tanks that you can top off with healing constantly, squishy heroes can get more healing focus and there's no more of those annoying stalemates where you can spend an entire match trying to capture the first point (because as long as a tank is alive it can be easy enough to hold the point). One less player just means less to keep track of as well, and this goes for everybody. Tanks one less player to confront, healers have one less person to heal and one less enemy player to run away from, DPS have one less enemy to do damage to and can focus down targets easier. Especially love it for healers, having one less player to heal means you can actually play the role of support instead of being a heal bot and can actually contribute to combat. Also that's one less ultimate to deal with. Couldn't stand how Overwatch 1 had such a large emphasis on ultimate economy instead of individual player skill and this was even after several global nerfs to ult charge rate. Maps also feel better but this could just be a result of 10 players congesting the maps less than 12 players did. To top it all off, hero choice has never been better. They've been trying to round out the other roles so that there's as many Supports and Tanks as there are DPS. --- twylite sprinkle http://tinyurl.com/jeqyas3 https://tinyurl.com/mgvx7h2 ...
