I only have the first one, so sucks that i can't buy it.

I couldn't get into the originals or them icewind Dale games cuz of the ui/controls...

Which is weird cuz I later liked other crpgs

there's no remake, only "enhancement" which was basically beamdog getting all player made mods and packing it together, then removing the original games from sale, then selling their new version for $30.

Also made some new characters that i haven't yet recruited.

I got most of what's in there from a D&D bundle GoG did a few times several years ago. There were 10 of them for like $20, which was pretty good. I've yet to play any of them, though, and it's been many years.

Most of them are shit. And some of them can literally cause game-breaking bugs that make it impossible to finish the game. And which are extremely hard to avoid because some of them trigger unavoidable cut-scenes you have to go waaay out of your way to prevent (meaning you have to avoid ever exploring at least half of one of the city neighborhood maps).

Basically, everything Beamdog added was terrible. It's why I kind of hate the "Enhanced" editions and wish the original ones weren't unpersoned.

all i took from this is that the game is probably fine

I have never actually played baldurs gate, but I have been told it is similar to arcanum, so I'll give it a shot.

I owned Icewind Dale as a teen. Never played beyond a few battles though. Seemed very much like "old" D&D where for the first few levels, it was basically a crapshoot if you won or your entire party got wiped. Save scumming my way through it didn't seem like a fun idea.

Now that I actually like and understand CRPGs a lot more I would probably like it better. I even have most if not all of the games in the bundle, just never got around to picking them up again.
