I think just ending at season 2 would probably have been better, but it wasn't a flop of an ending

The season 4 finale was great. I agree with most people that Season 3 was too slow and the Alucard arc sucked. But really it's probably the best videogame adaptation around.

They changed the showrunner after abuse allegations, so I'm sure the feel is going to be pretty different.

Just hoping we get to Soma Cruz one day

Season 3 was a mixed bag but Season 4 IMO was an extremely good ending.

Honestly the only arc that was solid in S3 was Isaac's.

Yeah, Season 3 was definitely the weakest of the bunch, but it's still a very good show overall.

Im very excited for this since the series is pretty excellent overall. I dunno how Ill feel about newer characters compared to Trevor & Sypha who were both awesome, but well see.

Richter has such a punchable face

They definitely showed kid Maria in there. Possibly Annette as well, her design hasn't ever been consistent enough to say for sure but she might be the one sitting under the tree early in the trailer.

The video description also explains that this is an "origin story" for Richter so we're not even getting to the Rondo of Blood stuff yet, let alone SOTN

We have the cast here, sounds like Annette is no longer Maria's sister since she now came from the Caribbean. Tera was another of the kidnapped maidens in Rondo alongside Maria and Annette (the fourth one from the game, Iris, is not mentioned here.) And Olrox, a boss from SOTN (and whose suit you can wear in Aria of Sorrow) is the vampire talking to Richter at the start. We also have Erzsebet Bthory, who was translated as Elizabeth Bartley in Castlevania Bloodlines. In Bloodlines she was manipulating global politics to start World War I, so I assume she's doing the same here for the French Revolution.

I wonder if they name Richter's mother, maybe that's their way of working Sonia into the story despite her game being non-canon

I haven't seen it yet, but I already hate the change to Annette. I don't care about her ethnicity, I almost never care when they change that since very few characters are defined by that. I hate that it means her relationship to Maria will be changed. Your siblings are absolutely something that helps define you as a person, and certainly can/should do so for fictional characters.

Otherwise, looks good. Hopefully I remember this in a month (or see someone post about it here).

Oh another Castlevania show series, Im all for it. Loved the first one, and Ive never played any of the games (I know, quite sad). I really need to get around to playing SOTN.

It's okay you're in the same boat as me (almost). I believe I've only played two Castlevania games, maybe 3 if two were playable on the GBA. I certainly never beat any of them, but I enjoy the lore and world building and have enjoyed the original Netflix CV series so I'm certain I'll enjoy this one as well!
