40.
No reason you can't be fit and people won't treat you like a kid.

I feel much more confident, accomplished, and healthy now at 37 than I did at 20. I haven't experienced 40 yet but I'll vote for it.

20 dear lord I wish I was 20 again. I could do backflips and even aerials. I had all my hair. I could go to the club and pick up babes.( I didn't but I could have if I wanted to). Not closer to 40 then 20. I am fat, losing my hair, sad, not able to walk upsteps much less to flips and tricks. And what is the down size. People saying hey you look young. Thanks I stay young by doing CJ-Cola . The only Cola that keeps you 20.

This might seem like an obvious 20, but it's actually a pretty good question. Your brain isn't fully formed until you are like 25 iirc. I think I'd choose 40 for that reason, but it's close. 40 is young as hell in today's day and age, but your body definitely is on the downslope already at that point. Aches and pains and the like.

You can still pick up women at 40, and you can certainly be fit at 40. The main down side of being 20 vs 40, is that people take you less eriously.

Given that I already have various aches and pains at 34, I choose 20 years old forever lol

25 would probably be my ideal, so yeah 20. I ain't even 40 yet and things are going bad.

If I could go back to 20 I would in a second.

As a 40 year old currently, definitely 20. My joints hurt so bad!

I don't think anyone is saying it's the only difference. Most people are more fit and certainly younger looking at 20 (I had a full head of beautiful hair at 20, now I'm bald at 37), but it's not the case for everyone. You can still be very fit and youthful looking at 40, you can still have a dating life and do the traveling that is more common for younger people (backpacking across Europe or whatever).

I'm not saying that life as a 20 year old sucks, but the average 20 year old these days is more pigeon-holed in terms of what they *can* do. It's really difficult for a 20-year-old to start a career and generate the type of income that can support a family. It's difficult for them to have true financial agency and be taken seriously among grown-ass adults.

Can't drink or get edibles if I'm 20.

I barely drink so I'd rather have my youth.

I was in much better physical condition at 20 than I am now, and there's nothing I do that would prevent me from doing anything I currently do by never aging another year.

40 years old forever: I aged well, I'm wiser, I make 10x what I did at 20, my ambition and drive are still the same, and my interests have mostly remained the same, so why go back to being a newb 20 year old? The loss of physical ability/stamina isn't as drastic for me because my mind and spirit are what ultimately drive me, so that's the reason my physicality hasn't degraded to old man status like it seems to be for some here. I'm not as fast and strong, but who cares when I'm still physically capable and don't need to be some star athlete to enjoy my life.

If I choose 20 do I still otherwise keep everything I have at 40? Or does life revert back to when I was 20 and comparatively uneducated and making under 30k a year working a job rather than the good wage and benefits I have now in my career?

I'm just assuming I keep my family too cause there's zero chance I'd give that up to be in my 20 year old body.

Wow, this was a tough one,,, you know at 20 you can not drink in the USA.

I am 60... so even 40 was 20 years ago. I do not think I knew anything at 20.

I know YOU guys at 20 know everything!!!!!! Yep, every damn thing.

but looking back, you know ZERO!!!!!

I picked 20, only because I could do more. but this was a good one.

Minor setback, imo. I mean, I guess I don't know about y'all, but I worked like a dog in my early 20s. My body may not age, but time is still moving. Applying that youthful energy to a simple physical job for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, etc years without slowing down should do you wonders. Korperate progression most likely wouldn't be as easy, but if you're working for the same kompany for decades and have a good rep, I don't think your physically 20 yr old body will be what prevents your progression.

While I don't have my super healing powers of being 20, I'm in better shape older because I actually started working out in my mid 30s. Granted at 20, I could get hit by a car and take a nap to wake up feeling fine. I can guve that up for drastically increased strength and stamina. My face looks much better at 40, so it's an easy choice.

I'd go with 40, if I am 20 I can't drink beer here.

But the downside is that I'm not as smart at 20 than I would be at 40.
