Yup! The first two episodes are the weakest, but it gets more and more better with each episode after that. You don't need to know anything about the games but they pretty seamlessly include tons of references into them.

thats basically my experience with the series and Im really enjoying it.

Ive watched compilations of character endings (theyre absurd), so I know some basic character names/details, but Ive barely played the games. It definitely doesnt depend on pre-existing knowledge, and is mostly its own thing.

Having pre-existing knowledge does let you geek out a little more and do the leo pointing meme a lot because the creators must have been fans of the games.

But it's just... dumb good regardless.

Like I said I'll be more crushed than a certain watermelon if we don't get a season 2.

they really went all out on the twisted metal concept finally, and the implication that theyre going to go for some even crazier stuff (Axel and Calypso) is pretty exciting

I hope they get really stupid and include the dumb leprechaun from one of the later games

I'm trying to decide what my favorite not-car scene is and it has to be either

Sweet Tooth's reaction (both joe's physical and will's vocal) when he asks why Harold killed everyone

or the callback with the Outlaws and Stone about "she's my sister, we have the same mother and father" and Stone's exasperated "I know what a sister is!"

Haven't seen, haven't really read comments, maybe want to watch it, especially if it is awful. I mean, let's be real, the game was Mario Kart battle mode with every 90's edgelord trope you could possibly fit into a game. It was the one game you could go to the mall to buy and pick it up at Hot Topic instead of EB games. And, if you were lucky, they'd have a special, and you could get a finger armor with it.

Bring it on.

Watched the entire series in the last few days. It's no contender for show of the year, but I'm far more interested in a second season than I expected to be. Anthony Mackie really demonstrated a certain leading man breeziness here that he certainly wasn't given chance to show in FatWS. And Joe/Arnett did a fantastic job bringing Sweet Tooth to life.

I did not expect 94% audience score for this. lol

I am completely floored this show is so popular. I did not expect them to do these streaming numbers.

It's absolutely getting a season 2. And it makes me feel really good about Based on a True Story as well!

And for the love of God Sony do something with this franchise it's been over a decade what's wrong with you?

Apparently Playstation was supposed to have a game release at the same time as the show but they had to start over with a new company in 2022.

Binged it the last 2 days after completely writing it off from the initial teaser, great show.

Really loved the short Calypso bit we got, such a perfectly campy weird show.

I did a bit of googling and it says it's on Paramount+ in Canada.

I feel like this is the overwhelming reaction. I don't know anyone who thought this was even going to be passable going in. But it all just works and for a 10 ep romp it does a lot of work in the universe.

e: and I'll be completely honest, I probably wouldn't have started it if not for this topic.

I mean you definitely see how I felt about it going into this. I was mostly going to have it on as background noise while I worked to laugh at how awful it was going to be.

I was completely astonished this was good. The marketing on this show was so bad. I promise it had to be nostalgia and word of mouth that carried it.

I am way more looking forward to season 2 of this than The Last of Us

Binged it in 2 days. That was really good. Cant wait for S2!
