$277 monthly premium
$8300 deductible
$8700 OOP max
$40 office visit copay
$90 specialist copay
$50 labs
$50 urgent care
ER is 50% coinsurance after deductible (full price until then)

Option 3:
$318 monthly premium
$0 deductible
$8700 OOP max
$45 office visit copay
$115 specialist copay
$60 labs
$60 urgent care
$1250 ER copay

Damn, I'm glad I don't live in the US.

Are those real plans? Are there actually people out there with $8000 deductibles?

I would just skip it all tbh.

These sound terrible. I'd just do a health savings account (HSA) if possible, linked to a brokerage like fidelity.

Of these 3, probably option 3. That deductible is ridiculous on the others.

Option 2. Labs can get expensive. And thats a good price for urgent care.

Full price for ER treatment until you reach it also sounds like trouble.

How many times do you end up in the ER though? Many things can be taken care of at Urgent care.

Id do 3, but holy shit 1,250 ER visit.

You are generally encouraged to go to UC for almost everything outside of your head falling off.

You really only need to end up there once. Thats the bitch of it. Nothing illustrates the fact that we are buying healthcare at minibar prices like an ER bill.
