I get that they may have limited resources, but this seems shortsighted.

AL's Democratic party is by far the weakest state party across the entire country. They've been plagued with issues for decades and it only gets worse

Before establishing quorum, ADP Chair Kelley and Joe Reed, chair of the Minority (Black) Caucus, attempted to stop attendees from recording the meeting. Kelley repeatedly asked that people unplug their devices, and Reed threatened to throw recording devices outside.

The chairman is presiding, Reed said. The chairman has ruled that there will be no taping and no film. If you got a tape or a film in this room, unplug it out of these walls.

Members said the state party bylaws require meetings to be open to the public.

James Ward, the vice chair of the Hispanic caucus that was abolished in May and elected member of the SDEC, objected to the request, saying that allowing recording would help restore trust in the state party.

There is a lack of trust in your leadership, and Id like to record, he said.

Amen. They knew they were in the wrong, that's why they were being so bitchy and wanting to destroy all evidence.

In the interview after the party meeting, Kelley said theyre not recording our meeting for any good.

They aren't obligated to put a positive slant on people being douchebags.

black democrats deserve the most power in the democratic party of alabama because they are the majority of democratic voters and politicians. the way the leader handled the situation was not good and telling someone 'be quiet girl' is condescending and bad optics. they should probably consider a new leader tbh and disbanding other minority caucuses is unnecessary too

When Hispanics came to this country, they didnt come into slave ships. They werent forced to labor for free for 400 years. They did not suffer Jim Crow. They have the right to vote. They have not had to fight for anything, she said.

nah the florida democratic party is by far the worst and the mississippi party outside of bennie thompson is pretty weak

The Texas Democratic Party is the worst. They haven't won a statewide election since 1994.
