At a bar job, I quit, and in the process called my boss a c**t. He then claimed that he didnt accept my resignation and that I was, in fact, fired. He then told me that I wouldnt be able to get another job because of that. I pointed out that I probably wouldnt have called him a c**t if I needed a reference from him, and that Id be fine. Does that count?

It was a temp summer job at a company that distributed computer parts.

I was very young and full of myself. I thought my boss was being an arsehole to me, so I poured his can of coke over his keyboard.

Now I realize I was being an arsehole too.

here you could get unemployment compensation.

in general employers saying well let you resign so it looks better on your resume than saying you got fired is a ruse to get out of paying you money in benefits/severence.

Didn't get fired but i did walk out of one of those. They'd piled so much bullshit work on me that the business collapsed a month later

Yes, only once in my life. Got voluntold by my father he had got me a summer job doing min wage grunt work at a local winery for a month.
Didnt want to do it, didnt want to be there, didnt like the people. They didnt tell me I was fired, but after two weeks they told me they didnt need me anymore. I was so happy I practically skipped home.

I was 16-17. Job was at a tourist waterfall attraction. It was a special festival weekend and I called out because I had been up all night with high blood sugar. Found out the next work day that you can't call out on that particular weekend

I have a feeling that if I didn't quit my Whole Foods job on decent terms I'd probably eventually gotten myself fired

Back in late 2016 I offered to help my boss (who I later found out was a manipulative bitch) on carts for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season, but I was kept out there with the goalposts constantly being moved back. Constantly being pulled off register with no warning to go out there, put out there on a lot of really rainy/snowy days, etc. I also injured my ankle at some point leading to a lot of pain if I walked on it for a long time, which when I finally went to urgent care the same boss basically tried to loophole their restrictions to keep me on carts almost as much as I already was. Via some mental issues (not divulging), I handled it very poorly and didn't cover it up very well which had a lot of bad effects on my standing (when I quit I was one written warning from being fired and I had 6 more months to deal with that). I quit in June 2018 to go work at an office (which I still work at), but something tells me I wouldn't have lasted had I stayed.

On the good side I did miss having a retail job during Covid which is fantastic.

I got fired from my job at Kings Dominion (Amusement Park), because I just stopped caring because I wasn't going to be a kiss-ass to management. This was in 2004 and I just went and got a job at Busch Gardens Williamsburg the following year and quit that job after 3 years.

No but I was close once, I decided to strike first and gtfo on my terms. When I handed in my 2 week I was near immediately escorted out lol.

I got fired from a temp job for reading a book in the 10+ minutes between calls

Turns out they were OK with people being on phones but not reading books...

Never been fired.

I've only quit two jobs a few days in because it was a waste of my talents. Every once in a while I get calls from them to come back, but hell naw, you keep that job for someone else who REALLY needs it.

I wouldnt have been entitled to anything. Aside from them making a fair case for gross misconduct, Id worked there less
than two years, which basically means they can do what they want in that kind of work in the UK.
