That sounds like something Nintendo would do. They always get away with skimping on parts because people will always buy the system anyway.

So it might be the same thing, but a bit more powerful and they dont know if its gonna have BC? Feels like BC would be a given if its such a similar console

Kinda wish they would do a more traditional dedicated console instead of another hybrid but given the success of the Switch and the death of the dedicated handheld I can see why they're going this route.

I'd be okay with it, really. It won't affect outputting to a monitor, and OLED does raise costs.

My pipe dream is not having to spend an extra $70 for a traditional controller.

Gotta say I'm not super hyped for an LCD, non-backwards compatible system. Hopefully they do multiple SKUs or something.

Nintendo have already gestured at backwards compatibility. We could see digital-only backwards compatibility though.

I mean, yes please give us digital BC. Honestly that should not be even slightly in question.

But I want cartridge BC too.

Could

Even the point in the first post seems misleading. What it actually says is that theres no info on that yet, not that there is reason to doubt the presence of backwards compatibility.

If true, then I guess I'm glad I never upgraded to an OLED Switch. I won't yet know what I'm missing.

The reason to doubt is not found in the first post but rather in Nintendo's track record. Feels like a coin flip whether they do BC for any given system.

Reading the article, all it says is that no one has elaborated on whether it has BC. Any discussion on that is pure speculation.

As opposed to Valve doing the same thing with the Steam Deck?

I don't see this happening in any world.

Don't really know anything about the Steam Deck but this is would be the first time. Nintendo have been doing it for years.
