That's what I used to think, but transporting food (or goods) from one location to another tends to have the unintended consequence of destroying that location's industry / economy, creating and perpetuating the cycle of poverty. For example, there is the textile and food donations to developing nations. The problem is, in developing nations, agriculture / textile / low tech industries tend to be the basis of the economy. When free goods flow in, that destroys the industries and the dependent local economies.
